I'm glad you like it so much! Even though I never liked it. Same with Should Be Higher (even though I liked that one after first hearings, but today not so much anymore). Only upcoming Delta Machine song that I like is Happens All The Time. You will love it.

I had „Stripped“ for my entrance at my wedding. In 2017 I attended a Depeche Mode concert in Leipzig. At that time I was unhappy in my former relationship and I have just met my now-husband. On that very day, just when they played Stripped, I realised I am in love with my now-husband. 7 years later we got married to this song. DM is an addiction ;) In terms of Alone: it’s also the best song for me. To me, the song is definitely about a hopeless relationship, maybe if someone in this relationship is struggling with depression.

@@SephPlays I remember the hype around and how I was excited about this new material when I kept listening it in the first rounds. As I mentioned in my previous comment, You Should Be Higher is very good song from entire album, rest of album is very poor and I would say this whole album belongs to below average of other albums since Alan left the band. May be worse than Sounds of The Universe ? Really hard to say that since I love Depeche Mode from era 86-98.

I'm thinking a codependent toxic relationship. This is my favorite song from Delta. It took almost a whole album but it finally sounds like Depeche Mode! Awesome complex arrangement of sounds, yes the vocals, gorgeous. Love those icy strings. The bridge sounds like choral music, truly stunning and heart-wrenching. The beat kicks butt too. It's gems like these that keep me coming back. BTW Rolling Stone magazine gave Delta 5 stars, if that tells you something.

I have to thank you.... I have never once considered that this song could be the band literally speaking to their fans about being one half of a give and take relationship with the music itself. That's actually a really poignant insight on the lyrics. I can attest to your statement that music can really pull people out of some places that they are stuck in. Happened to me. Had a bad breakup hat lead to a divorce after 16 years of marriage, and the day it happened, I found a new song by Sara Barielles, called "Gravity", that had just come out at the time.... and that song was the life preserver that I needed to stay afloat. If you ever get a chance to listen to that song, it's a beautiful tune... but the video..... that video is one of the most creative and simplistic pieces of art I have ever seen.

"Or there's one other way to think of it. Could be music itself. I've been there... for all your bad times or good times. This is to me... this is music. This is the way that it makes me feel. You listen to Depeche Mode... and it does make you feel like you are part of something. It makes you feel like it can save you from the worst of situations. It'll be there at your worst. It'll be there at your best times as well." (7:48) That's you and your channel in a nutshell. And it's what you cultivate here with your subscribers every day. And it's incredibly powerful stuff. However, there's a lyric that Martin sings in the bridge, "Now it's too late for words that should have been said long ago," that leads me to believe he wrote this song from his ex-wife's perspective. Certainly the other parts of the song could be about Martin's well known alcohol addiction, while the bridge could then be about the effects of that addiction on his relationship with his ex-wife. But I think it feels more like the former. Another surprise from the band.
