Out of all the Aussie fisho's on KZbin you are deadset still one of the most genuine blokes. You show us all the short comings which just makes it all the more feel like your on the boat with you. Some other content creators really miss that aspect, and make I feel like they are trying to sell you something, or like they are on the telly. Cheers mate, love your work

I had a feeling watching the last vid that you would have some issues trying to sleep on shore. I worked a bit on small boats tending urchin and abalone divers, the main issue you need to worry about with near shore sleep aboard is dragging anchor in swell or wind. If it gets really windy and you drag anchor it can move very quickly, and if a side shore current changes direction the amount of anchor line out can put you on the beach. Just be careful and conservative in how you anchor near shore. Leaving your boat anchored to go onshore or for a swim, take communications with you, never leave everything on the boat and go dive. Take your phone in a waterproof case or your EPRB, you had a radio for the kayak, take that, take something but never ever just leave the boat with nothing while solo far from the mainland.

Rod dont worry mate, anyone telling you you should have done this or that probably learned themselves by trial & error.. I can give you a few tips from having spent the last year straight sleeping in tents and on my tinny in these exact scenarios, learning from every trip: 1. If you build a boat canopy for sleeping, it has to cover the full boat top to outside of gunwales and transom to bow (especially bow) otherwise it'll be useless in the rain. The wind will blow the rain in the sides almost every time. 2. It has to be perfectly curved & taught to stop water pooling. 3. Youll want a decent 12V fan inside especially in QLD hotter months as the canopy will make it hot & humid as hell inside! Even with midge mesh windows. 4. Make it as easy as you can to assemble / disassemble quickly if you can. 5. Dont use it in heavy winds unless sealed down on all sides! Ive had 45mm x 3mm thick ally tubes (canopy frame) rip apart at the welds in heavy winds - getting under the top of my canopy when i left it open 1 night. 6. If you're thinking about using rod holders to hold your frame uprights you'll probably want to reinforce the joint between rod holder and gunwale. Ive made my canopy canvas in 3 peices - top, bow peice and sides. Ive got 4 uprights that have extension tubes for a top height - day / shade canopy that i can stand under, and then can drop it down for sleeping and fix on the sides and bow peice for sleeping - about a foot or so above the gunwale. Its definitely not an easy build to get it all just right, but hopefully i can cut out a bit of the guesswork for you mate. Working on my 3rd version now to fix a few more of my own design flaws!

You learn life’s lessons by experiencing adversity, overcoming obstacles and adapting to situations that appear right in front of you. Overcome and adapt! Truly enjoy watching your adventures and living them vicariously through you. Keep up what your doing. Any feedback from your viewers is a positive even though what they say may not be positive. It shows that they are watching and paying attention. Best of luck to you and keep the adventures coming 🤙🏼

I feel like you need some sort of heavy-duty tarp for when you get stuck in heavy rain that can cover the whole boat and allow wind to go over the boat and not underneath on the sides so it doesn't get ripped off. It would also keep you dry in very heavy rain.

Terrific video!! I couldn't agree more about getting the best out of the hurdles and obstacles that pop up during a trip. Years ago I took a year off work and traveled all the way around the world from my home in Canada. The Caribbean, Europe, Southern Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Hawaii, the western USA and then home. Every time my plans got blocked or a glitch occurred some amazing, unplanned, unpredictable but wonderful thing happened!! Little problems open the door to unforseen opportunities, it's just up to us to see them for what they are and embrace them.

Yep, I think you'll be boat camping on the new rig from now on, unless you find a public mooring. Sand anchors don't hold well in course sand/coral rubble. I learnt the hard way in the Keppel's where all but one of our groups boats sank after dragging anchor and getting swamped in the shallows after a small change in swell direction. Don't do what Dennis did either with a bow and stern anchor, that'll sink your boat even quicker.
