Now that the picture in the inventory screen is a skull and crossbones, I think I see a pattern here. The Gangster and Crossguns probably means you can use gangster weapons and whatever you can use. Teddy bear probably means whatever Grace can use. The skull and crossbones probably means pirate weapons only....

we can only speculate. my guess is it has something to do with the curse. since their pacts were made 200 years ago aboard the flying dutchman, the ship has therefore being used as a sanctuary for the condemned crew. like a time bubble, this binds them to their orignial point from where they started their dubious second careers. yada-yada bla bla...^^

It's kinda weird how the slash where he slashes all the way through doesn't hit, but the slash where it's basically a feint slash hits almost every time ._.
