It actually wasn't an alpha, it's called a Megatherium, (Giant ground sloth) and the red glow it had was a buff it gets from killing a bug. When it attacked Dora it killed a trilobite so it got a damage reduction buff and increased damage.

After all these years and they still don't know the true power of the Megatherium. I knew this day would come eventually after seeing them jump from thinking it was hostile in the first days to thinking it was friendly and weak in the latter days. Even though no Dino messes with the Sloth Bear. Yet they continue to underestimate the truly powerful dinos. And notice what makes the Sloth Bear tick. Yut.
