I remember about 13 years ago when the very first r ten hit the market as a replacement for the super10 MK3 , they had so many issues with the regulator it was unbelievable , I had one of the 1st MK1 r tens and I got lucky as it never gave me any problems , then I had a mk2 super carbine , then a version 2 of the mk2 in all black , I always loved the look of the superten and how simple a rifle it was , I still have a super ten MK3 blue printed by John bowkett , but I've since had more tuning done to the rifle and it's in a CS thumbhole stock , I sold it to a friend about 5 years ago ,he barely used it and I ended up buying it back last December , it was still working perfectly ! ,I did however get it serviced , and I can honestly say it's just as accurate as and of the two grand plus rifles I've owned both electronic and mechanical actions , so if a looked after near 20 year old BSA super ten is holding its own against today's super rifles ,well I can't wait to get one of these , I'm ordering a .177 super carbine in a few minutes .

Great show, can you tell me if you can double load the R12, thanks
@airgunextra2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Carl. I believe I am right in saying that it is possible to double load. However, a couple of points on that: 1) in my experience, most double loads occur when you're not sure if you properly cocked the action - i.e. you pull the bolt/sidelever back enough to probe a pellet but not cock the action. Then, when nothing happens, you cock the action again and probe a second pellet. All that usually happens when the cocking action, be it bolt or sidelever, is not very smooth. The sidelever on the R12 is like butter and I think it's unlikely to run into the issue described with it. 2) you simply forget that you have cocked the action, so you cock it again. Paying attention is the cure here! The R12 has an 'action cocked' indicator. My bad but I don't think I covered it in the review. Basically, a small window on the side of the action shows white when the rifle is not cocked and red when it is. I hope that helps.

Hi John. The probe doesn't seem to go far into the port but I managed to get it to fill without problem. I do recall one time having to rotate it slightly to seal properly. Hi Gary. Lucky you! BSA quotes 260 shots for the Super Carbine in .22 calibre. That will from the 230 bar maximum fill down to the regulator pressure threshold - 90 bar sounds about right. Yes, two magazines. I didn't try it (for obvious reasons) but I do not believe there is an anti-double load feature. That said, the sidelever is so smooth and precise the only way you're going to load two pellets is if you're not paying attention to what you're doing, which is obviously not a good thing when guns are involved! There is not carbon bottle option, but a carbon bottle is only an aluminium bottle wrapped in carbon, so it's a looks thing rather than a weight saving thing.

@@Artimus128 Hi Artie. Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel guilty about making me feel guilty 😆. I believe the mount on the Wraith is designed for a Picatinny rail. So you'd have to get a dovetail to Picatinny adapter. I'm not sure which model you are thinking of but if your budget can stretch to a Pard DS35 70 LRF I'd strongly recommend it. It's excellent during the day and at night already has the IR torch integrated into the scope. The real bonus though is that it also has a laser range finder (LRF). Shooting in the dark, the hardest thing to deal with is judging distance to your target. The LRF function is very easy to use and takes the guess work out of any shots you take. There is also a very easy to use ballistic calculator function which will automatically adjust the point of aim to suit the distance you are shooting over. I'm based in Reading and if you are anywhere nearby you'd be more than welcome to come and have a shoot through the Pard and a few other night vision scopes I have.

With the steel bottle, looks like a mid range priced rifle and the rubber cheek piece is revolting, this gun priced at that should have laminate or walnut cheek pice depending on what stock you go for and a 400cc carbon or 480cc carbon bottle, then it be more different, I pass on this one, BSA With there R series of files needs too loose that steel bottle shite
@airgunextra2 жыл бұрын
Hi Neil. Not sure if you missed it, but it's an aluminium bottle, not steel. And carbon bottles are aluminium wrapped in carbon. We're all entitled to our views of course and it would be arrogant of me to think that my view is the only right one, but I like the black soft touch cheek piece. You might also have missed that there is a 400cc bottle option as well. Thanks for watching.
@neilcopeland44112 жыл бұрын
If what you say all carbon bottles are aluminium wrapped in carbon, then this bottle on the R12 needs too be replaced after 15 years from manufacture because I know all Rifles with carbon bottles have a life span of 15 years and has to be replaced so the rifle is considered too be safe, as you said all carbon bottles are infact aluminium under the carbon wrap, so all aluminium bottles have too be replaced after 15 years, because you said all carbon bottles are infact aluminium bottles

Bit expensive, the mags I've never liked , for that price it should had a anti double pellet load system, the gauge cover is something else to lose , should have carbon fiber bottle for that price bracket ,
@airgunextra2 жыл бұрын
We're all entitled to an opinion of course, but personally I found the magazine to be great and I doubt you'll lose the gauge cover - I certainly didn't in nearly a month of testing the R12. It's very hard to double-load the R12 because the side lever is so smooth and easy to operate. Although that is no help if you are prone to double loading because you don't pay attention. Carbon bottles are aluminium bottles with a carbon covering, so no real weight benefit. And at a little over £1,200 I think the rifle is well placed given the price of its competition.
