Most people have "a thing" when it comes to yawning. It is, in a way, contagious. When you see or hear someone do it, or even talk about yawning, it triggers empathy in your brain, so you do it too. When I was 25 I had my tonsils removed and then 6 months later I had to have them removed again because they fully grew back. The same Dr did both surgeries and he took my file to Medical Conferences for years after just to be able to prove it

I’m with you on the hatred of cucumbers. My mother told me decades ago that if you were out in the woods hiking or such and smelled cucumbers, that it meant a copperhead snake was likely nearby. I think that was one of the “old time-y” sayings. But, I do eat pickles.

Not just anesthesia in ancient times. Rome had running hot and cold taps as well as an extensive aqueduct system and waste removal system. Fast forward to Medieval times and somehow, all this knowledge was forgotten so they tossed their human waste (and all other waste) out the window. They shouted "gardyloo" to warn people on the street that they should move aside or be doused with pee and poo. The original was from the French "garde à l'eau" which meant "beware of water". To this day, I cannot understand why the best of Rome was forgotten and not "relearned" until the 1800's. I also cannot understand why folks cosplay Medieval times. Knights and whatever, sure, but it was a completely horrible time in human history. Cosplay for real just once, and no one would ever do it again.
