@@rds1717 I actually believe they stopped dying toilet paper because it saved money. In essence, they were just being cheap, because they used the same dyes that are used in dying clothing fabric. Clothing manufacturers continue to use the same dyes today. Other manufacturers followed their example because they saved a lot of money in manufacturing fees.

Ok, I did a brief look-up & it's Possible they were scented by the manufacturer. (I didn't actually want to click on any tp related sites, ty) Additional other possibilities: The rolls took on the scent of something stored nearby (like bars of soap in the same closet) or someone else in the household spritzed them. Currently, some people will spray the core with something to have scent that way. Lots of possibilities

Hi Mike, I picked my nose a lot when I was a little kid, so my mom bought some stuff she would put on my fingers. I'm sure they stopped selling it because it certainly isn't PC these days. This was back in the 60s and it was called Thum. It was made of capsaicin disolved in a little water. Naturally, when the finger is put in the nose (or mouth, eye) it causes intense pain. It was actually sold as a discouragent for thumb sucking. I once was carless wiping my butt and set my nether regions on fire. I really hated the stuff because it got my eyes, mouth and even tounge burning if I wasn't careful. She stopped using it because I just started washing it off. Ahhh.... sweet childhood memories!

As much as people might view nasal picking itself as "gross", I think it's a hygienic practice, since alot of dust, debris, old hair, dried mucus etc tend to collect there as you breathe (and nasal hair tends to grow out long when you get much, much older - particularly if you're male.) It's important to clear and clean out your nasal passages out - just like you would for an air filter etc. The gross part is when people don't wash their hands after or when some people eat the garbage (not understanding that the hair in your nose was trying to protect you from that mess from getting into the body.) As for the Toilet Paper, my mom says she grew up with coloured ones and ones with patterned designs on them when she was a kid, but she explains that they discontinued it, because colouring paper etc was costing companies too much money to do, so they stuck with regular old white. I still have a hard time believing that was real.

for those wondering, the sand grains fact means 875,000,000,000 grains of sand per person on earth. though i do wonder if the scientists took into consideration the sand under water, inside pockets of earth (such as opened from an earthquake long ago and later closed) , or man made sand. if any of these were not accounted forn then the number of sand grains per person increases.
