I think a lot of us subs care deeply about your health and well being and would welcome any info that you wanted to share. Also, really appreciate the technique training on squatting. You and Mr. Thrall are helping me get back to squatting after many years of spinal problems. I had given up on them (gave away my squat rack!) but between low bar and the great technique training you guys provide I'm getting comfortable with them again. Thanks!

I'm recovering from a frozen shoulder, been out of the gym for a while, and getting back in. My shoulder mobility needs some serious work, but even before the injury I could have focused on *all* of the stuff you mention in this video. So thank you, you are an amazing teacher!

Brian, seeing you bending inward the PVC pipe and then military press with it as you're exploding upwards brings it together for me. That was one missing component. I was pulling the bar inwards, but I think being more mindful of would help me a lot more. I'm going to get one to practice on. Thank you, man! It's good to hear you're recovering! Good for you!!! Yes, hearing about the recovery process would be beneficial. Thank you!

Brian these are great tips, honestly I would say the “squat” is what I struggle with the most. Thankfully in strongman comps here we haven’t had to do a squat event 😬. HOWEVER I know it pays to be a well rounded athlete! Gonna have to take some notes with me to the gym haha.

I do the opposite with my upper body on the upward potion of the squat. I pull down on the bar into the back rather than push up on the bar to maintain that tight core pressure. It seemingly works for me so far. Not completely related, but my rotator cuff tear (without surgery) has been worked through and much better. The pain is largely gone and just working through the weakness and potential scar tissue. But yes absolutely document the progress back.

I've been reading through Rippletoe's Starting Strength - which advocates for a low bar squat with palms over-top of the bar as opposed to gripped around it. I will definitely be trying your method as I can understand how keeping everything tight would aid in keeping your body rigid. Thanks for the tips and thorough explanations!
