Man, I have watched tons and tons of videos from the best guys (Thrall, Cavaliere, Nippard) and though they had good advice, you have such a great way of explaining things and demonstrating with examples and easy to understand cue. This one was super helpful-the squat cue list was a real game changer for me. Thank you!

This is the best advice I’ve heard. I might have heard similar cues so maybe it was the way you explained it. I just attempted a PR today with 4 plates (lifting for 13 months so yeah I have a ways to go) using your PR % jump video advice. Worked really well till 405 happened and now reflecting I realize I did not feel as tight as you explain here. I have tried belly breaths at the top rather than below and I feel so much more uncomfortable doing it this way but this 405 I didn’t do that so I’m guessing that was my issue. You’re my fave youtuber Brian. So glad you’re making these. I’m learning daily. Thanks so so much for real.

This is a super helpful video man!! I'm 19 and haven't ever done powerlifting type training but I hit a 525 deadlift at 165 bodyweight last week and put up a vid of it thinking it was a lot but seeing what people are capable of, I have some work to do and now am trying to make that an even more stronger lift. THANK YOU!!!!

The squat video helped me better than any other video. It completely eliminated any lower back tightness i use to get after heavy squats (or lighter weight higher reps for hypertrophy). Im definitely gonna use these cues for the deadlift! I already know its gonna help. My biggest issue for the Dl is my grip. Im good at activating my glutes and quads, thus leaving my lower back out of it

I could use some advice from anybody. I started a new job between now and when my school program starts back up in 2018. I'm working overnight in a building supply/lumber yard. the labor is pretty hard, and I feel like I've adapted to that for the most part, but the gym is taking a hit. It's been maybe 12 weeks, and I can't seem to maintain the gym for more than 3 weeks in a row without burning out. I think it's because my sleep and diet are all screwed up, and neither was ever that great anyway. Some days, I totally oversleep, probably to make up for the days I don't sleep at all. some days, I'm cramming junk just to get more food in me. I get sick (overtraining?) every few weeks. I frequently burn out in the middle of my second giant set, even when i decide not to go up in weight from last week. it's bumming me out. I kinda need the job, because it gives me room to fit in my volunteer hours and such that I need to be accepted into my program. My gen ed is done. I'm not sure how to adjust from a 4 day to a 3 day schedule, if that's even a solution. I'm not sure how to adjust volume/frequency. I'm just having trouble keeping up with everything without burning out on the regular. I keep pushing, but the juice just doesn't seem to be there. Sometimes, pushing harder is just banging your head against the wall harder, and the wall doesn't seem to be giving. I could use some help.
@shakoustorm85257 жыл бұрын
Josh Johnston adjust your programming, diet and sleep..Greg Nuckols has some good articles about programming. Not sure if Brian has videos about but it be worth a search.. I've hit burn out and it sucks. Saps motivation etc so you have to learn to train smart. good luck with it man
@joshjohnston73887 жыл бұрын
Shakou Storm yeah... if I could get my sleep and diet back on track, I'd probably be ok in the gym too. I'm beginning to suspect I might have to bite the bullet on gym fees and start training after work someplace that is open at 2 am, because I go in smoked on gym days, and that's not real good with all the lifting and pushing and carting I do. The one place wants five times what I pay now, and the other doesn't have barbells. : ( I certainly need to smarten up my training. 3 tiers of antagonist giant sets (work gives me conditioning a plenty) at 65-85% of my last pr for 5x5 might not be great. I'm not really experienced enough to be deciding my own RPE. I tend to overdo it. Being hard-headed enough was never my problem. Admitting reality might be. I'll look that dude up. Brian's templates are crazy smart IF you're hitting recovery, but I'm failing at that right now. I meal prep. I take an hour before bed to prepare for bed, but sometimes I just don't sleep. Already set up a bedroom in the dark, cool basement, but I dunno. Pills make me too groggy for too long, and don't even work that well. I... really need something to go well right now.
