Take from bottom way easier and way less stuff to move and disconnect. waisted a ton of time if done this way. took me 45min start to finish and didn't lose any fluids

Thanks for the vid but it was a bit easier than you did it on here. I was able to pull the alternator straight up without disconnecting the coolant or removing the fan. What I did was remove the bolt holding AC line to the frame and pushing that line to the left about 2 inches. Then I removed the forward cam sensor (3 T20 torx screws) and was able to pull it straight up and drop the new one in. Just a heads up

All Me and my brother ended up unbolting was the ac condenser and sliding it out of the way so the alternator had a small space to wiggle through. Worked really well

Great video. Very helpful for my 2011 Volkswagen Routan. I was shocked it turned out to be so easy. Like you I had to remove the fan but no big deal. Saved me hundreds of $ and almost a week of the van having to sit at my local shop. Good job and thanks so much for all the tips!

Did this about 2 years ago on a friends 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. Tricky part is the hex studs. I took it out the bottom.

I really appreciate the video it helped me with getting my alternator out. I have replaced it and now I'm on my second alternator in a week and within 15 minutes of replacing the second one it seems to have been bad too unless there's something I'm not understanding or I need to reset something. I'm not sure if maybe I got too bad alternators. Some advice would be helpful.

I made this mistake too...ended up replacing alternator still not charging so found out voltage regulator goes bad which is located in the PCM. Tried to do Voltage regulator bypass and it didn't work. So bought a remanufactured PCM off Ebay around 300.

i dont no why people say take it from the bottem thats alot harder to do, too me 15 mins to take it out from the top no lie, was so dang easy and no jacking up van and removeal wheel and inner fender, and ac, thats even alot harder, more time, and alot more dirtyer job lol.
