Regular Hellsing is trash. Straight trash. The only good thing about the "normal" Hellsing anime is the soundtrack. That was straight up fire. For everything else, Ultimate dominates. I wouldn't even watch the regular one. It sucks so bad.

@@lierjinn5769 Eh, up until the end. TeamFourStar had no idea what they were doing with the characters in the last few episodes and utterly butchered the personalities of Walter and Alucard. Alucard/Vlad has always been utterly devout, and even at his lowest point he was rebelling against God: he would never willingly serve the Devil. Likewise, Walter finished the job of destroying Millennium once Alucard "died." He didn't just go out as a traitor: his twisted sense of honor demanded he finish his best friend's job.

@@bloomblock2768 Firstly, having Soul Manipulation doesn't mean he has Soul Manipulation Resistance. And if he did, he has zero feats for it. Secondly, Alucard doesn't have Soul Destruction, and if he did, it only applies to Souls he's absorbed and thus not combat applicable. And thirdly, Alucard absorbs the souls of four supernatural entities. Three artificial Vampires which are weaker than the real deal, and the Baskerville Hound. Literally everything else is just normal old weak humans.

So want to throw out something that I noticed with Schrodinger, and what I think is the biggest reason the major's plan actually worked to an extent, was that Schrodinger gave his blood and soul willingly. If he hadn't, it is very likely Alucard would have just immediately had full control over the ability rather than having to wait 30 years while he killed off all the other souls that were mixed with Schrodinger. Basically, Schrodinger has more individuality that can be expressed than a standard familiar, in the same way, and for the same reason as Pip does within Seras, and it was thanks to him spreading that individuality and identity within the other souls being consumed and that resulted in the plan working. If He had not willingly been consumed, he would have simply been under Alucard's full control from the get-go or the period of non-existence would be much shorter due to Alucard only needing to subjugate Shrodinger rather than kill all the other souls ( which ironically would have made him even more powerful then he ever was prior and still made him omnipresent ).

As long as the character exists in some type of format he’ll be remembered for something- the power, the unkillability, his ability to laugh and take damage and to ridicule the opposition (it’s likely he only viewed others as prey or harmless as he knew most if not all others couldn’t be on his level)

Alucard can still consume other people, remember even drops of blood is still alucard consuming another person. After returning 30 years later he consumes integra's blood and is still hungry. With Schrodinger he must know who he is and what it means to say I. As long as he understands his true identity and his new power of being everywhere yet nowhere, real but not real, he will still be able to recreate and regrow an army within himself.

Nice video but there are some inaccurate points which I try to explain: 1: Dracula (Alucard) told Seras that if she drank his blood she would be free and become a true No-life-King which means there are other vampires like him with similar powers, that is why he was disappointed when Luke was unable to regenerate his mutilated limbs, he even said, " summon your familiars..." which means real vampire can indeed become darkness like him. 2: Vanhellsing stabbed him with a wooden stake, not silver... Vanhellsing mentioned that he had defeated his army, even when Dracula fought Andereson he said," Walk through me..." and this "me" was the army of the familiars within him and he also mentioned Anderson can do it like those five men (Hellsing, and others from the novel) indicating even before Helsing he had that power. 3: The fact that he had the army of Wallachians in him again indicates that he was able to turn into darkness and unleash the river of death even before Helsing capture him, so Heling's experiments were in fact to make him and his daughter in control of Dracula's powers rather than empowering them because they were already empowered beyond comprehension, only true vampires (No like kings) have such powers, Helsing wanted to impose a lock system on Dracula and gain the control of his darkness which is the source his powers... and not to forget that Seras too became like him in the end and she didn't need to have herself empowered or something like that... 4: People have become hostile towards vampires, they simply (because of jealousy?) don't like to see them nearly as powerful as they used to be, there has been an illness of depicting vampires really weak in many stories, games, movies, and etc... so when a product like Helsing tries to at least depict what a real immortal vampire is people come and say, "NO!! He was weak! Just like other vampires... Okay, maybe a bit stronger than others, and now that he is kind of omnipotent is because Mr. Helsning empowered him in some magical ways so his powers won't count!" 5: Wheather these people like it or not Vampires are the ultimate monsters, Vampires are the darkness that darkens darkness itself, and they are the heart of darkness. Added parts through Edit 6:The only reason we don't see other vampires being capable of doing what Dracula does in the anime is that simply there are no original vampires like him, they are simply manufactured... but because Seras was sired by him, she is indeed capable of doing incredible things like Dracula. It is mentioned, after defeating his familiars that are mixed with his black and dark immortal essence there is a slight chance of defeating him and this defeat was put him into death-like sleep because he is indeed indestructible, it is said, "He is now, without his familiars an alone castle but still a castle! which means the castle is still a formidable power." We can accept this boyish entity Schrodinger cat and cannot accept that Dracula was already super powerful!!!!!

But them how did his armies survived beating of Hellsings beating? They should be logically destroyed, if Dracula did end up how he did with his Alucard powers Thanks to Anderson we know, what will happen him in similar state and his armies definitely didn't survive it. I think, when they talk about his servants and armies, they talk about more traditional ghoul and vampire servants, not eldritch abomination he later became. Anderson is big reason, why I think, that Hellsings (organization) did make him much stronger, that he was. For example Anderson was thinking, that he definitely killed him, when he decapitated him and pierced his heart, so Alucard is really unusual even among natural vampires, if he surprised Vatican! Anderson is regenerator too. Even if he couldn't regenerate limbs (fast), he is still human at that point. Would it be surprising, if normal high level Vampire could regenerate leg, even if they weren't collection of stolen lifes like Alucard? Didn't Integra (did I write it right?) herself say, that Hellsings was reason, why he can ignore traditional Vampire weakness. Dracula could have all that lifes inside him without being able to use them other that some abilities and long life and young. Hellsings coming up with ways to go behind his limits and transforming him into ultimate weapon look like logical step, after he was defeated by human before. At least, I see it that way.

A: Plothole: Every story has its own plotholes and this can be a pothole B: Vampires' will is absolute which means the familiars cannot manifest themselves if the vampire is not conscious and has no control over them, if you remember when Helsing defeated Dracula he talked about Mina not being his, and when Anderson was about to defeat him, in both cases, Dracula was exceedingly sad and sorrow had taken over him thoroughly which means somehow he was convinced to cease to exist... By defeating Dracula-level vampires they try to shut down the monster because they know he cannot be destroyed, that is what a true immortal Nosferatu is... and nothing can be more supernatural and eldritch than vampires they are the ultimate monsters for reasons my friend... so the familiars being incapable of manifesting themselves is simple they are part of him, the river of death is part of Dracula so when Dracula gets shot down then they suffer the same thing it is not like when you defeated him all other parts of him evaporate! One thing you mentioned is totally true vampires get far more powerful when they get older, they even gain abilities to resist what harms or makes them weaker as time passes... The Helsing organization made him more powerful is to make make him more resistant against holy weapons nothing more which infact a great boon... Look vampires are supposed to be indestructible and be stopped by a super specific holy weapon and when we say stop it means shutting them down...

1.) He said that to Seras, tempting her. Alucard doesn't respect monsters. He respects humans who resist the temptation of becoming monsters. That's why he kept her around. He wouldn't have kept a vampire that was all about eating people around long. The reason Seras was as strong as she is shown is because she was turned by the original vampire, and she only fed on one person who willingly offered himself up, thus giving her much more strength. He doesn't respect Luke, because he's not a real vampire and he only wants power. Like a true monster. So Alucard mocks him. It's never shown or stated that any other "real" vampire can do the things Alucard can do. He's the progenitor of the entire species. He's going to have the most abilities. 2.) Look, there's a lot of deviation between Bram Stoker's Dracula and Hellsing. Dracula in Stoker's version was tired of living and allowed himself to be staked, his head cut off, and garlic flowers to be placed in his mouth while his body was burned. He could have killed Van Hellsing, but he didn't. Now, the cool thing about Kota's version is that he implies heavily that Alucard wants to be defeated by a man, because it's only a man that can defeat a true monster. That's why he appreciated Anderson so much (before the Golgatha nail and all that). That's pretty cool to me and it gives a lot of insight on Alucard/Vlad. 3.) Alucard fed on a lot of people. If you notice, not all of his army was Wallachians. They were also Turkish. True vampires aren't specifically "no life kings". They're just vampires that weren't made artificially from Mina Harker's bones. Which means that Alucard, somewhere down the road, turned someone and never wacked them, giving them the time to turn others. Which is odd, considering that Alucard is bent on being the only monster to exist. The lock system is stupid and it likely there because Kota thought it sounded cool. Alucard doesn't need a locking system. He can do whatever he wants. He CHOOSES to obey the Hellsing family because he respects their strength and conviction. 4.) What? Homie, Vampires in like, EVERY SINGLE DEPECTION OF THEM are the most powerful thing ever. They're immortal, have powers of mind control/domination, seduction, regeneration, transfiguration, reality manipulation, along with a slew of other things. They literally eat people. They are the apex predator and humans are their natural prey. Yeah, people are going to hate and be afraid of them. It takes insane amounts of courage for a human, who is weaker and stands virtually no chance at defeating one, to openly fight a vampire. That's why Alucard respects Integra. Because she showed no fear in the face of certain death. Alucard, at the end, is literally omnipotent. He's neither dead, nor alive. He's a paradox. He can be somewhere, and not be somewhere at the same time. He's transcended not only his mortal self, but his immortal self to become some kind of quasi God. Yeah, he's pretty powerful. 5.) That's not accurate. You see, we run into a problem with the whole Vampire thing. Vlad was turned into a Vampire because he turned his back on God and beseeched Satan for power. He was, in turn, given the form of a Vampire. This would, in the books and manga, confirm that there's a Devil. If there's a Devil, then there's a God. Satan granted him that power, he can take it away. Since God is above Satan, God could do the same thing if God wanted. Making them above Alucard/Dracula. So the true darkness is still Satan. 6.) Incorrect. You see other "natural" vampires, like the priest at the very beginning. Why would Alucard even need to be out and about if there weren't other vampires that needed to be culled? He wouldn't have a purpose, since all he does is kill Vampires. We have no idea how long he has been with the Hellsing organization. It's reasonable to assume since Abraham defeated him originally. So, that would put it in the late 1800's. There's been at least 2 other Hellsing heads before the 1940's when artificial Vampires were being researched. Walter banters with Alucard in The Dawn (set in 1944), so it directly implies that they've known eachother for awhile, BEFORE the research. So Alucard has been employed on missions before, thus, confirming there are other "natural" vampires in the wild. Mina, being a vampire, could have turned people before she was taken by Germany, we just don't know because Kota doesn't care about world building.

In the other anime, the older version with 13 episodes, Walter directly says Draucla is the Nosferatu the true immortal vampire and he defeated both Incognito and god Setth that Incognito evoked, plus the two vampire couple were drinking blood to become Nolife kings, their goal was to become one, Alucard comes and mocks them because they didn't even learn to turn into bats or mist... even natural vampires are weaker than No life kings... Dracula didn't tempt Seras, the reason he turned her as he said, "She refused to die" in the second or third episode when Walter asks him why he turned her, he literally wanted her to drink his blood he even taunted her for not drinking the blood...

Should it be noted that there's a reason normal vampires have to be killed with holy weapons? Because of this, one can assume that, unless it's a holy weapon, Alucard from Hellsing/Ultimate doesn't need to use the souls that he's absorbed to heal. During the fight with the Angel of Death-Walter, one can assume that being a vampire hunter himself he'd have the garrote he uses is either silver or another substance.

im pretty sure anderson knifes were blessed and made of some holy material, didnt really get the part of why he didnt die when he was decapitated by anderson, only thing that comes to mind is that he separated his head beforehand since there were bats flying around already while they were fighting.

@@juanmarcano8700 You're right. Anderson's armaments are blessed. However, many weapons that are used against Alucard aren't. Like when he's shot a couple thousand times in Brazil. A true vampire can't be killed regularly. As for the beheading, he simply used one of the millions of souls within himself to regenerate. A simple attack like that won't keep him down. As for battles with people like Anderson he won't regenerate immediately unless it'll piss him off. Waiting until he's unable to move or is by all rights dead is the best course of action to conserve soul use. Alucard is essentially a Philosopher's stone (FMA) in that way.

Perhaps holy weapons are just another in universe class of magic (faith based) and confer stronger affects against vampires/the undead. However, with what we see of barriers being pages of scripture and Anderson’s transformation by the holy relic nail I think it seems all but confirmed that.. in Hellsing Christianity is canon and not just a faith based application of magic. There really are divine artifacts, magic, and the sort related to Jesus Christ’s time on Earth. Vampiric and other occult abilities probably have a connection there as well and by probably I mean I can’t think of another way for it to work. Anyway the holy weapons might work to negate vampiric powers or emulate the effects of natural materials like silver and garlic, maybe even having a more potent ability since the purpose of the weapon is to protect and free the souls stored within a vampire severing the connection and restoring the soul’s connection to God’s plans for them.

His name was Vladimir Tepish, and he was called Dracula because his dad was called the "Dragon," and Dracula means "son of the dragon." And yes, he did impale people. Typically he would take live victims and a BIG pike and place the victims bum on the pointy end and let gravity and like a day or two do the killing.

This was a fantastic and very fun video to watch. I've been a Hellsing fan for over 20 years and have an absolute love for the character and story. I'm also a HUGE history geek so once I learned that Alucard was Vlad, I fell hard into the show/manga back in 2003. Out of all the "Character" videos I have seen, this one is one of the best. I do have a few things that I'd like to point out, these are all from years of collecting, reading, speaking with Crispin Freeman (Alucard's VA), Taliesin Jaffe (Head writer, Producer), and even meeting Hirano back at Otakon 2006 in MD. First, Mina did not fall in love with Dracula in Hellsingverse, in fact, in the panels where Van Helsing bests Dracula, you can see her being held by a man (who may or may not be Jonathan Harker as that name is left out of the Hellsingverse for some reason). She was definitely not into him and this can also be understood and checked by reading the chapter in the manga where Alucard returns to London in the carrier. One of the first lines of the chapters states "Once a vampire came to England to get a woman he personally desired". This is from the English translation sold in the US (just clarifying since some people here may not have read that translation). Second, Hirano has said in interviews that The restriction system is what keeps Alucard in check, he ABSOLUTELY has to say the incantations as that is what releases the power. Furthermore, the restriction is also what keeps Alucard, well, "Alucard". Hirano has said that without it, he wouldn't be able to recognize himself and the souls would not allow him to control who he is. So while, yes, he is indeed not a man, he needs to be able to remember that he WAS a male person with his own life and personality or he wouldn't be able to "be". Third, The guns are physical and not a part of him as they were made by the Hellsing organization. Since we really don't see where the guns go, it's safe to say that, like Anderson, he can summon them at will. How this is done, well, we don't know, Hirano didn't really explain. My personal thinking for why Alucard was given guns was so that he didn't rely on his vampiric powers. After all, no one in the Hellsingverse knows vampires exist (except certain higher powers) so giving him a human element and calling him a "Hitman" or "agent" working for an organization works with hiding his true identity. Fourth, it is never confirmed that the soul he has left at the end is Schro's. He said he fought all of them and only 1 is left, he even says "I am here" which indicates it is HIS soul, not schro's. To me (and lots of other fans), it seems he now HAS schro's powers but Schro is not physically there as if he were, then there would be two souls which he has already said is not the case. The only thing that I do admit is that, yes, he has Schro's eyes now, but that could be due to him having that power. I believe that if it WAS Schro's soul he had in there, then he wouldn't be himself, he would be Schro and that is not what we see, we see Alucard. This has been debated for years, there isn't really a clear answer and I think it is up to the reader to believe what they want. Lastly, Please note that Hirano made up a lot of Hellsing as he went along. He has mentioned this many, MANY times thoughtout the development of the manga. Unfortunately, a lot of the interview records have been lost as the websites from back in the 2000s don't really exist anymore. The sites, for those who are older fans, were the Bird of Hermes forum, Hiranomoe, Call to Arms, and even old school Live Journal. I have a bunch saved in an old WD hard drive, maybe one day I will make a site and throw em all in there, who knows. Regardless, Hirano has admitted to being lazy (even writing it in the manga pages towards the end), in fact, he has said that the reason Alucard went back to his regular Alucard form was because he didn't feel like drawing "Vladucard" over and over as it was a lot of work. He admitted he was supposed to stay in the version longer but he took the easy way out. Also, while he NEVER said this, a lot of us in the community back in the day believed that the last chapter was pure fan service. I KNOW for a fact Hirano doesn't want to disappoint his fans (this he has admitted) and he knew if he didn't bring Alucard back, the fans would be upset so what did he do? He brought him back. Personally, I would have been ok with Alucard disappearing, but then again, that would go against his belief that "Only a man can kill a monster" so it seems fitting even though it was just HIrano doing it to not disappoint his fans. My point is, while Hellsing is amazing and I adore it, it's not as deep as a lot of people tend it to be. Yes, there is definitely a good story and character development, there's also not. Walter flat out said he joined Millennium cause he wanted to fight Alucard, there was really no explanation, just a "well, the world will probably end and I wanted to fight you just to have a part in it". I do love the fact that, technically, all the vampires Alucard fights are pretty much his copies as Millennium took Mina's corpse and got his blood from her body. We had a joke back in the day that she got Jurassic Parked, lol. Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I am very passionate about this damn series and love a good video on it. I also enjoy talking about it and having a good discussion (I miss the forums) with likeminded fans. Also, PROPS for not throwing in any Hellsing abridged stuff in there, I cannot stand it, I am so sorry.

I think Alucard subjugated him. It’s implied that, like his guns, the souls he consumes become part of him. It’s also said I think that Schrödinger somewhat lost his individuality, hence Alucard fading (since you can only be omnipresent if you are fully aware of yourself, which he stopped being). He came back after killing all of his absorbed souls, hence only one (his one) became the only point of his awareness and he became omnipresent

The complete other way around, friend. The amount of hype I've seen over this Vampire is ludicrous. I've seen people seriously Alucard is a nigh-omnipotent God because reasons they never elaborate on. I've watched the original series and Ultimate. Alucard is really just not that strong. Take away his healing factor and he's a basic Vampire with limited soul manipulation and darkness manipulation. Like the dude never so much as even lifts a car. His best speed feat is catching a bullet with his mouth! Sure, flashy, but in the grand scheme of things that is so slow. Like literally Vampire Diaries average Vampires can speedblitz Alucard Luke style. I don't know. Alucard's power is vastly overestimated. I hope someone debates me on this, honestly.

In both of the clips we see, his brother is....well, chunky, seems to be shorter (at least compared to Alucard himself) and Blonde. Now, when Alucard was defeated after absorbing Schrodinger, It shows the Major, again, showing that characters clearly reincarnate, as well as Anderson, his "Enemy". It could be possible the Major was a reincarnation of Alucards Brother, once again serving as a great Enemy against Alucard, continuing on the fight again. Or at very least, a reference nod TO the brother.

I do like the Abridged version of how Alucard was defeated. When Schrodinger spiked his drink no one was witnessing it so the paradox begins Schrodinger is half alive and half dead. When Alucard absorbed the blood he becomes Schrodinger. To become a thing is to know a thing as a result the the paradox ends and Alucard is dead. When Hellsing asks the Major what he did he asks, "I CALLED HEADS!". After all of that planning it came down to a coin flip. This one chance to kill Alucard had a 50% chance of not working. I like that it really shows how mad the major is that he gambled the lives of his soldiers and all of London on a coin flip.

I think he became subordinate to Hellsing also because he became an aimless wanderer, all his decisions in his life led to pain and suffering. He chose subordination to not have to decide on his own between good or evil and entrusts Hellsing with that decision. His Level 0 Restriction Phrase also matches this idea. "The Bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame."

I'm not done watching the video but I have read the book Dracula Prince of Many Faces His Life And His Times by Radu R Florescu and Raymond T McNally. Vlad's brother Radu was a lover of the Sultan's son and one of the concubines. So it's not hard to assume the same thing might of happened when Vlad was younger however it was also said Radu was very beautiful and timid compared to headstrong Vlad. You also missed the part that Vlad wanted revenge because the Turks buried his older brother alive while making their father watch before killing him. Turks wanted puppet rulers. Dracula and his father Dracul were a part of a group called The Order of the Dragon. It was fashioned after the military orders of the Crusades, requiring its initiates to defend the cross and fight the enemies of Christianity, particularly the Ottoman Empire. Vlad constantly asked for help from other nations and called for crusades to push back the Turks. So Hellsing's creator didn't make up the Christian aspect of his character. He basically waged the war alone country wise at the time and kept them at bay with his tactics. Also Vlad lost the throne, got imprisoned for several years. Escaped and retook his country after like a decade.

I'm not sure Alucard is any different from any other vampire in this story. When he was fighting with Valentine he commanded him to summon his neathers and regrow his legs. So I'm not sure if he is different from any other vampire, more like he just has more information than others do.

I believe in a certain theory of Alucard soul being an entire underworld containing different souls, which would explain why he was able to kill off all 3 million souls but one when he ceased to exist. A misconception was made here as he doesn't use souls to regen. No characters(but Anderson) made a slight reference to it. The soul-based regen makes contradictions within the series like how he didn't use a soul to regen against Abraham Van Helsing, or like how he didn't die when he became a vampire as soon as he was decapitated after he drank the blood since he had no souls. This could be even more substantiated when Alucard questioned the odds of Anderson beating him even at level 0, even asking if his odds are 1 in a billion which further confirms that he doesn't use souls to regen. His weakness is to destroy his heart with a holy weapon as affirmed by Anderson where he told Seras not to worry if she was gonna die since he did not pierce her heart or when Vlad Tepes told Anderson to pierce his heart with a bayonet.

It's kind of funny how more than one media source has painted Dracula as the original and true vampire while modern iterations are a pale shadow, a pale shadow he is openly and clearly disappointed with and disinterested in. They never explore the concept fully but I've always assumed that in his absence vampires just became a much weaker version of what they could be. Either they forgot how to do what he can or they're locked off from it because he was never there to show them the way.

Dracula means Dragon in Latin and so Vlad Tepes was also known as Son of the Dragon. As his father was one of first knights inducted into Order of Dragon by the Roman Catholic church. Vlad Tepes was also inducted into the order when he came of age. So his name is literally the Dragon Count or Lord of Dragons. Though I admit a new Hellsing series based on Radu or I guess Udar returning and Alucard have to fight his brother would be interesting. Hell you could even have it that Alucard was not the first Vampire. That after defeating Millennium and in this version returning to Sir Integera 3 years later instead of 30 years later. Has gotten the attention of the Old Ones and so both Hellsing and Alucard will face enemies they never new existed.

I think, and obviously the operational word is "think", that Alucard wouldn't even need to be that careful about the souls he takes in to be able to sustain the Schrodinger ability. He seems to be able to keep track of his trapped souls pretty well. It's just the influx of 3 million at once, in addition to Schrodinger's, that was the issue at that point in time. So as long as he exercised restraint, he would theoretically be able to build up a small buffer of "elite" souls.
