the watchmen is one of my favorite comic books of all time and when I take a deeper look at the character Rorschach I see that there might be something unique about him. SPOILERS obviously. #comics #watchman #Rorschach

I hate that I’ve been alive long enough for people to do summaries on the movie with seemingly no knowledge of the source material

I agree, what is blud talking about, he's mixing up both the movie and comic, I wonder if this is just a trick to get engagement in comments, kinda lame either way,

This was a good video and the thumbnail was hilarious.

I genuinely got confused at points if he was talking about the movie or the comic, would have been left confused if at the end he again didn't clarify that he was talking about the comic

I like the video but rorschach has a bad sense of justice to the point he's a big reactionary type person, who's racist but realistically so. I understand if you like him from a character writing perspective but he shouldn't be mystified like batman or superman. Everyone in that comic is a bad person and should be seen as such. Again liked the video the editing was on point and I liked how you broke each character down but I'd also say showing more of the bad side of these characters would of helped the video I think.

@@jackislegitterrified3689 In a sense, yeah. Dan was arguably the goodest guy there, but even then, he really enjoyed beating people up more than someone should

@@jackislegitterrified3689 He got married to Susan and started over with under a new identity. It's even implied he and Silk still go out as superheroes from time to time, so this is a deserved happy ending for both of them. I hate how a lot of people overlook this part of the story when talking about Watchmen. The message isn't that "superheroes suck", but rather that they wouldn't work in real life and are better off left in the realm of fantasy. There is nothing wrong with casually enjoying this fantasy as an adult (like Dan does in his own twisted way), but it becomes a problem once you start considering it a solution to real life problems

@@stevepensando2593 I mean, in watchmen they don't have powers. Like, a Spider-Man wouldn't hurt.

There are many similarities to characters from books. Nightowl is like D'artagnan while Ozymandias is like the ambitious side of Edmond Dantes. Rohrschach is the destructive side of Dantes soul. The Comedian would fit in John Silver and Manhattan like Zarathustra.

15:07 I'd argue Rorschach agreed with what Ozymandias did though. Rorschach in the comic is Alan Moore's critique of Mr. A and The Question's hardline, black and white, objectivist philosophy. He's basically portrayed as an emotionally stunted, right wing nutjob and a hypocrite(tries to downplay Comedian assaulting Silk Spectre I, justifies bombing Hiroshima while outwardly condemning what Ozymandias did). The Hiroshima thing isn't in the movie I think(this video seems more based on the movie), but it completely changes how his death comes across. He comes across like deep down, he thought it was justified, It's just his moral code couldn't let him admit that, so he chose let Dr. Manhattan kill him so he didn't have to. The idea is that the black and white morally that Rorschach claims to have is childish and can't stand of to actual reality.

someone is gonna go "Erm media literacy chud! this character was made to make fun of you!" (the author himself shares this opinion) Be sure to laugh at them and how wrong they are, because Rorschach is awesome.

Rorschach does *not* have a great sense of justice. Not only is he a fascist, but he openly supported the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Also, Dr Manhattan *doesn't* really agree with what Ozymandias did. He's willing to kill to protect the secret before leaving, but he doesn't see it as something that can be maintained. That's why the last thing he says to Ozzy is "nothing ever ends." We see that later when the New Frontiersmen (a far-right rag) gets Rorschach's journal. It's not "hopeful." It means that all the people Ozzy killed will have died for absolutely nothing.
