Great video! I appreciate you taking the time to comment on the "haters"...truth be told, anybody can buy flour and yeast, but people buy loaves of bread everyday and don't have a problem with that! They don't call the bread makers "scammers". Keep up the great work!!

i agree with everything your saying. I plan on making my own soft pastics and bass jigs over the next few years when i can accumulate the equipment, but I became good friends with a guy doing what you are doing and I asked him how it was to start up and he said if you want to spend all of your money to make pennies on the dollar than lure making is for you. Definately a slow process and alot of playing around before you ever really make it profitable, and id like to start a business but again its a slow process, very good video for those who dont understand its not as easy as you think.

Great Video... I am a CAD(er) and in making a bait alone in CAD is difficult enough and then CNC those baits takes couple hours of waiting then some take almost 10+ hours. I know because I have seen it in progress it takes $ and patience. It's difficult and hard to do...you have to trust in what you want to do. That's why this is America.. you can do what you want to do. Aluminum molds are not cheap, it's the price that you pay...the quality you get. Keep a strong heart and let your dreams flow.

If I was wanting to get started making my own baits for me and a few buddies what would be the best 3 molds to buy to start off with?
@CentralCoastBass11 жыл бұрын
Just started our own CCB custom baits. We are into plastics and spinnerbaits and cranks, but feel your dismay. It takes money and time to either hand pour them or assemble them. Then comes the design of the labels and packaging, its work, and a lot of it for a small company. Keep doing what you doing, time will prove your existence. Central Coast Bass.

Great video! I just thought of when you said that you weren't currently able to create the original models for molding. One idea I thought of was that you could get in touch with someone who can model stuff in 3D, get your hand drawn sketches digitalised and by so, get the 3Dmodels printed with a 3Dprinter pretty cheap. I assume the digital 3D model can be used for directly making a custom aluminum mold as well. Anyway, keep up the awesome work!

Sorry kyle, not trying to be mean or rude but it does take 3 or four minutes (actually like 10) but like you were saying they won't just make you a custom one cause you have to get the metal and put in the measurments where they have a set measurment for their molds (Source: Uncle owns machine shop with 4 CNC machines

A suggestion I have about possibly getting your own custom molds is to try going to a high school or college with an engineering class. My school had a cnc machine and we would do work for people all of the time. You don't have to pay high labor rates either.
@nicksoutdoors11 жыл бұрын
making your own fishing baits can be fun exciting and rewarding when you either sell a pack of baits or catch fish with something you made yourself but you have to be careful because 1 you are at high risk to get burned when you are dealing with the 300 degree plastisol 2 lung disease from poor ventilation. you might not realize it but the fumes that come from the plastic are very toxic and can be deadly so make sure you wear gloves and be in a well ventilated area. also a respirator would help.

@Methos71311 жыл бұрын
I was wondering when you were going to switch over to alum molds. Getting a custom mold cost a lot of money and plus you'll have to find a reputable company who won't charge an arm and a leg for CAD and CNC designs...got to also factor in the work hours they charge for working on your design...plus patent cost too if you don't want others to copy your bait. In the long run, pouring your own baits with retail market molds will pay for itself, plus catching bass on a lure you poured is Priceless.
@rogerhenke933411 жыл бұрын
It's all about the amount of time you have to do this stuff. The molds cost a little money, but once you are set up you are good to go. You can buy a lot of different molds on line and make the same baits but do you have the time? Don't feel like you need to make excused and explain yourself. You have committed to something you love to do and made the time to do it. Good for you. I custom paint crankbaits and mold my own jigs and buzzbaits. Plastics are a bigger commitment. Swimbaits next

Something to remember...although the new molds may be mass produced...the multi-pour color patterns Kyle comes up with are NOT. Many guys just pour single color baits...with no attention to detail. Take a good look at Kyle's baits...and see the difference.

So, when u say custom molds; do you mean that you send "the mold maker" a design that you created and they cut it for you? Do you just draw a picture and givem the length an depth? How does that work?
@davidmckeone602910 жыл бұрын
No he makes his own silicon moulds based on wood cuttings you make the shape of your bait out of wood or another lure you would like to reproduce then the silicon is poured over the design wait 24 hr then take out the bait then you pour your plastic into the mould and "TA DA"

@Fishingallday3111 жыл бұрын
Guys, I have made hundreds of my own molds. That is not the issue. If you actually try serious bait production, I'm talking processing 30 packs a day, you will see why handpouring is incredibly inefficient. It's fine when you make baits for yourself, but does anyone remember when I had a month-long wait list for my baits? That was all due to handpouring. It simply takes too long.
