Aluminum SBC is Destroyed BAD! Not good at all!

Well, that’s not what I thought it was. I guess this is better??? Parts failures are always bad, but this for sure was not what I was expecting. But, it is what it is and we will get a game plan together to be back at the track soon.  dragracing is always fun, but always just a matter of time before something breaks ……..race, break, fix, repeat.

Also a trick with the crank trigger look at different pitch kart sprockets!!!! .400,.500,.600 figure out what sprocket is close to OD of balancer for your 36-1 reluctor mount it to balancer get it phased and file off the corresponding tooth!!!

Hey great job adapting and overcoming. I dont think you should rush the new car build. If you can fix the small block for not too much $, and get back racing....getting some win lights would be great. The new car will need lots of testing before really being competitive and fun. I have a set of Dart Pro 1 Platinums with crower rockers that TKM just dry decked and are hooped. They are also chamber softened also. Kevin has my number

Built me a brand new sbf 347 with some really good parts and had a catastrophic failure at about 6500 rpm on the 4th trip up the road. Popped the head of a valve off and the piston beat the hell out it and everything else. It sucked all those pcs into 6 of the 8 holes. Cracked block, ruined heads, all the pistons. Don’t know how it didn’t hurt the crank but it didn’t. Like you said, part of it, you’ll get it back together. Good luck man

Sry to see your carnage TJ, and speaking of not such good ideas brother, alcohol fumes are heavier than air and it also has a very low flash point so any single spark, even 1 generated by simple static electrical discharge (just saying here ok), and they tend to float downward out of a fuel jug neck at the position and distance you were pumping out that cell w/ a battery operated brushed motor that creates a lot of arcing (sparks), and I had a good friend that did the same thing you just did and boom, the fumes and the whole jug ignited. Really a bad situation in a home garage as not just your shop, but your whole house is at risk. I have also seen it happen at the track too, just race gas in an ungrounded poly jug, and plastic race filling funnel as they were filling the cell. 1 single static spark, and pooooof! But, an electric drill is a really sparky tool, an air ratchet setup maybe a bit safer.

Looks like you could benefit from engine Dyno tuning with 8 O2 sensors and 8 egt sensors. Probably always ran hot.
