"Self-employed internet weirdo" caught me off guard. Thanks for the laugh.

I liked that little “squirrel!” moment, but with a digging shrew instead.

Beer and ale were originally differentiated by the fact that ale does not use soporific hops. Ale was sometimes used for what we would call cider... cf "Heather Ale"

could lagastaf mean something like "water stirer" or water stirring stick? during the process of brewing beer you do have to stir it and when rowing on water in a way you're also kind of stirring it. Just some food for thought, Thank you for the great video as always.

Interesting that grana (?) means "beard". We think Grannos in Gaulish means "beard", but it could also mean something related to the Sun like Irish "grian".

I was hoping against hope that you'd cover Alvíssmól - and here it is! You've no idea how important this is to me personally, and for the book I'm writing. Thank you so very much, Dr. Crawford!

Is Thor maybe saying to Alviss “you’ll marry her over my dead body” so to speak in stanza 6?

Inspiring view into an Old Norse worldview from this poem. If this is "internet weirdo" content then I don't want normal. In addition to EXCELLENT teaching methodology and communication, your calm helps me land my hyperactive feet back on the ground. ᛏᚺᚨᚾᚲᛊ -Edward Yarbrough

I don't think you're an old Norse specialist. You're not old. 😉 Sorry for the bad humor. I bought both your audiobooks and have finished the Poetic Edda. Great stuff. Thank you.

In the Netherlands we have the womans name 'Truus' derived from Gertruida, which, given its latinization must've been adapted from the saint. Same word as þruðr.

I'm writing a fantasy novel about a cursed sword. It's similar to The Lord of the Rings in that it has elves and dwarves but this is about a sword. I've had the idea for it since the late '70s and early '80s. However, I can't think of the name of the dwarven realm. I don't have your audio books unfortunately.

Leave it to Jackson Crawford to read an ancient thesaurus out aloud. Well with this voice, I'd listen to you read the phonebook, ngl.
