Sorry to hear that you think that adding the runes is a waste of time. I always thought that it added a magical quality to your video, similar to the stunningly beautiful locales. The videos will become your great legacy so I'd suggest that you don't take short cuts.

Me and my wife are wanting to each get a forearm tattoo for our 20th wedding anniversary, we want it to say Friday the 13th (the day we met) , after confirming we have around 15% Norse ancestry, we would love it to be in elder or younger futhark I've done some research on my own including binge watching your channel but I'm not confident enough to pull the trigger myself If you would be so kind could you please give me some direction or even just your opinion on how that should be written would be greatly appreciated Thanks. I am looking for some sources where i can find the names (possibly in runic and translitteration) of plants known by the old norsemen. Any suggestion?

Does anyone speak german and norwegian. I speak a very litte german and noticed a lot of similarities. Want to know if it would be a good language to pick up.

German's an interesting language, but a bit more difficult grammatically. Norwegian would be less difficult, plus then it makes learning Danish, Swedish and by extension Icelandic easier (particularly the first, since Danish heavily influenced the main variety of Norwegian).

Native Norwegian speaker here! If you know English and a bit of German you have most of the structure and lots of the vocabulary already. And you'll find maybe 30% of Old Norse somewhat familiar and understandable! :))

Hey Doc? With the understanding that you are not a specialist in slavic languages can you comment at all on the words "Лукь" i "лихо"? They seem a little "tricky" to me... if you're not at all familiar with slavic (which I would find quite hard to believe) try putting those two words into a translator together and then inserting a space to remove the soft ending on Лук. Will you speculate on this? Interested in hearing me speculate on the topic?

Do they not mean the ale is pouring FROM the gold? Which would make sense given their color. It seems to me often gold/ale/mead are riddles to describe sunlight. So rather than a fire, they have the sun and from it their drink, golden rays pour. Feel free to disagree.

Beautifully read! There's a really good reading of the Orkhon going around on youtube under the video name 'Old Turkic Rap' btw - for those of your viewers who dig historical multi-culturalism for a coherent tomorrow.

I suppose Loptr, air and Oðinn, fury, having their blood blended from the getgo should surprise no one. For who does not think of a wild and angry God when the wind blows fiercely. Another way to approach it is Woden being the skyfather, thus air obviously is very close.

Takk fyrir. Vel gert. Þú hefur áður sagt að þér þætti skýringin óður - edda langsótt. ( Never questioning what the word Edda meant, I had pleasant revelation, thanks to your pointing it out. ) Hér segir þú frá að senna sé komið af sann. ( Just saying. )
