This was really great information about flats. I am 76 years old and working a job that requires some kind of flat shoes. Do you have any information about flats that have a really nice interior that feels a little bit like the inside of a tennis shoe, soft and supportive for people who have jobs where they need to stand up a lot during the day. I really love your channel. I have been working on my closet this year, even though I have been watching your videos for many years, I think it’s fun to shop my closet and to notice how many repetitions I have too many pink tank tops for instance when I might be able to just get along with only one or two, I’m trying to weed out the things that I don’t really need to give more room for the clothesthat I love and wear keep up your good work. You are a great value to all of us.

Thank you for this! I used to live in heeled booties, a thick heel which is way more comfortable than a heeled pump. However, I am recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery and heels are not in my foreseeable future. I have been wearing a barefoot ballet pump from vivobarefoot for now and it’s functional but by no means stylish. Can’t wait to pick up the right loafers and put these tips to work. This was very timely for me!

Hi Alyssa, thanks for yet another great video. As a mom who walks in a city a lot every day, I wear flats all the time. I find relatively easy to style them without socks. The challenge starts when it gets too cold and rainy for that, but perhaps still too early for winter boots. So, as an idea for a follow up video, how about styling low flats with socks and also, styling different types of ankle boots? Thanks for giving it a thought. Have a fantastic day.

Wonderin how tennis shoes fit into this? I’m chuckling as I watch this - as a 62 year old women who is 6’ tall - I dream of wearing stillitos and have spent my life in flats. This was ENORMOUSLY helpful! I totally agree that showing some ankle makes it more feminine - if only that had been try in my youth when I was teased mercilessly for ‘high water’ pants. Thank goodness, fashion has evolved! People always gawk at me and say “OMG you are so tall” - as though this information has slipped by me? So funny (now). Appreciate all I am learning from you!

I haven't worn heels for longer than I can remember... but discovered that in the 21st century you can find lots of gorgeous shoes without heels. I have worn a lot of Giuseppe Zanotti (many models available from his own outlet or discount websites) loafers: comfortable and glamorous. Also slim pointed toe ankle boots!

Brilliant video Alyssa! I love the style of pointed flats for special occasions, but as I have a walking commute plus have to keep legs covered and am on my feet a lot in a lab, I’m usually in trainers or boots. I’ve been wondering how I could make a high-vamp loafer work as a petite who still wants to look feminine and not “weighed down” at the feet - so thanks for the great outfit examples and using some “technical” terms to help articulate specific features of shoes and styles of clothing to pair together 😄

I can't wear anything higher than about an inch or so, having lived in flats all my life (learning how to walk in heels when you're trying to make a good impression at a party or interview is really not the time!) and have a wide variety of shoes for different occasions. I still haven't found a good pair of ballet flats, though, because they don't tend to be sturdy and supportive in the way I would need if wearing them for a long time while on my feet. I do have a pair of 1940s inspired flats with just a bit of a wedge for that subtle lift, that I have worn when I need that bit of elegance that fill that role for me, at least for now. Having the right pair of shoes for the right occasion is so important. Look after your feet, and they'll look after you!

Hi Alyssa, thanks a lot for yet another great video ! I'm nearly always wearing flats, as I am 185 cm and in summertime this works great with the "cropped" look of all my jeans and trousers (as it is nearly impossible to find good jeans that are "long enough"). But I tend to struggle during the colder season. I'm not an adept of the couloured or tennis socks trend and as I live in Switzerland going with open shoes in winter is not an option. I do not really can get warm with the skin ("sausage") peaking above my boots when I sit down as the season changes and this always gets me into an urge to find new longer jeans, thing I by the time know I will not find. Do you have a stylish suggestion on how to manage this ? Thank you ! Have a good week !

I have tried a lot of flats (talking about other than sneakers) and i have really just never been happy with how any of them looked. I thought they all looked dowdy. That all changed when I found the Sarah Flint Natalia which I now have in two colors. I’m sure I’d like the block heel classic Chanel and maybe Gucci loafers (although I guess they’re a tad dated at this moment) but I don’t want to spent that much and I’m very happy with the Natalia.

I can see you are a shoe girl, you really know your shoes 🩶 These outfits, with these shoes, are visually very pleasing. On another note, I would love to see your ideas on how to wear sweaters without doing the tuck! It took me years to master the different tucks, but now, it feels so dated that it no longer looks good, I think it ruins the look if we do it! While I was watching this video I paid attention on that your cropped tops looked very nice, and also a cardigan or sweater (a slim one) looks good when fully tucked in. Also, the denim on denim look was on point, when the denim shirt was not tucked in at all. I look forward to wearing all my sweaters, many of which are oversized, and longer, the coming fall, but I also don’t know how exactly I would wear them now. Tucking in is no longer an option.

I just bought 8 pairs of flats from Amazon, 6 pairs with various designs with pearls or crystals on vamp. They have pliant outsole. Some have pointy toe box, some have more square-ish toe box. I call them Bollywood flats because of the bling factor. They aren’t made to last but because they cost me $15/$20 a pair I don’t mind not having them for a long time. I love wearing those flats with jeans, especially skinny and wide leg style. I also have quite a few linen dresses I can pair with. I love having one unexpected element in styling to break the mode.

Honestly, pointed toes may look great, but how many guys are walking around with bunions, neuromas (pinched nerves between toes that zing you when you walk) and big toe arthritis by 50? Do people a favor as an influencer: do a styling video that at least includes some barefoot style ballerinas or loafers. You don’t get it now - I certainly didn’t- but you’ve made this your job. Worth considering - you’d certainly be doing a favor to some people in your demographic.
