As a 5, for me information is a paradise of possibilities. I notice with how you describe 6’s it’s almost as if you view information as a means of quelling fear, this to me is a key difference between our types. Fives love gather information for the thrill of learning and I myself can spend hours on end binging Enneagram KZbin videos to gain more knowledge but enjoy the process within itself. Knowledge may be a crutch when it comes to socializing as social situations require experience no book can truly capture but I don’t feel crippled by such situations. Those social situations strengthen emotional intelligence. Good venerable video here!

I’m a 5w6 but I have OCD and anxiety so a lot of the 6 things are very relatable. I don’t relate to being dogmatic, though. I never understood why people were upset with my (non-militant) atheism and why people tie their emotions to their beliefs. Also, I don’t have linear thinking. It’s like all my thoughts happen at once and can be hard to verbalize in a linear way without losing information. Although, the way I speak is more linear than the way I think, probably because of taking a lot of logic and philosophy classes where you need to make deductive and inductive logical arguments.

Ahh, I knew I was getting an INFJ vibe from you :) Very cool! I'd not have considered you a 7 wing, either from what I've observed in the videos, though was much less sure about enneagram than I was mbti, regardless, and the latter was just a strong feeling. INFJ 5w6 here, and as with your other videos, you're spot on. So right about the breast feeding scenario... I'd say the 2nd option, but with the added, "do it where you want, just cover yourself up when you do it." I do tend to shove certain things into an overall religious framework, but my thoughts there are, putting that aside (since if I'm honest, I don't care where fellow women do that), I'd cover up, and would advise others to simply to avoid the possibility of being bothered by people who are offended by seeing it. Because, let's be honest, who wants to be bothered by random people? lol Can totally relate with the checking of the doors... I do the same. I have to sometimes double or triple check things just to make sure all's copacetic, before I can leave. Not all the time, but especially if I can't clearly recall myself doing the thing I'm worried about; if I _can_ clearly recall it, and am certain about the recollection, I'm fine leaving it unchecked. The "I want you to like me in case I need help" situation's true, too, though the rules followed in that case are just societal ones; other rules, I'd handle on a case by case basis, and if it's silly, I might still agree to it, but passive aggressively either slow walk my eventually carrying it out, or slow walk it and conveniently "forget" about it over time. But even then, the compliance is only when forced to interact with others. I otherwise avoid people as much as possible so I don't have to endure any of that to begin with; a notorious ghoster, who tends to burn bridges with said disappearances, without being too bothered by the fallout, sadly. The thought process explanation was superb. Big picture everything... tiny tangents, lots of anecdotes, or "this reminds me of...." to some seemingly unrelated thing at first, until I point out how it relates, all leading back to the main idea... which I eventually get back around to. Loved this video, and loved the vulnerability shown in it. The examples are wonderful, and will come in handy when I share with others. A relative I live with is a 6, and I think he'll get a kick out of this. :)

Fantastic video. Liked and Subscribed 👍 I'm an ISTP, LSI HDCN (Socionics) and possibly 5w6. I'm on the fence between 5 and 6 for myself as I relate to both strongly. I'm often typed as 6w5, 5w6 or 8w9. I tend to act like an 8 when I'm stressed. I get somewhat aggressive in defence and threatened by someone. I'm also super-protective of people around me and have been described as very mechanical in my thinking.

Hi Jennifer, Fantastic description of your six type checking the weather! I am a Three and I am consciously moving towards six whenever possible and I actually rejoice when I care enough to check the national weather situation, such as currently the wildfires we are having in the Northwest and the hurricanes in the south. I do admit that I was checking the Air Quality for my local area obsessively when the smoke got really bad here because I really hate to feel sick and I don't want anything to jeopardize my good health....which I think is kind of a SP three thing; I am super focused on maintaining myself at my best level of health, appearance, spiritual/social growth, etc. Even my social contacts that I make I view in terms of whether I am pursuing a good and positive path and moving forward. The key phrase to my life is "am I moving forward?" If I can't move forward in a relationship, I shift my focus to career. If I am blocked in my career and relationship growth, I focus more on spiritual and social growth, etc. It's a little bit exhausting. ;)

Gosh, I've been having trouble typing myself between 6,4,5,9, but I'm just going to say that I'm 6 with a heavy 5 wing bc I care about relationships and my reasoning can be pretty subjective. I feel 5 in some ways because of that fervor for learning and distance from others (ironic, I know considering the first sentence). But I'm a shameless people pleaser who seeks protection and support from others. At the same time - and maybe, it's just because I'm an average, rather than healthy 6 - I'm not super loyal. I care about people, but I don't really feel the need to invest much in them, even those I'm close to, as awful as that sounds. As an INFP, I totally do that tree-thing! Though I admit, when I catastrophize, its very linear. And in general, my thought about the future are. In general, things that feel concrete and ig, real to me, tend to be that way. While I tend to imagine things that are more abstract in that tree-trunk kind of way - like if I'm working on a project, or I'm taking notes, I see possibilities and connections between subjects.

This is the first of your videos that's compared two types that I've previously mistyped as. Not that that has any relevance to me now, since I now know I'm neither of these types. Heh. I found it pretty amusing how you kept getting embarrassed about your Type 6 tendencies. I think it's great that you totally recognize these as Type 6 behaviors and have learned to grow past them. My mom does a LOT of that worrying about the worse-case scenarios. But she absolutely believes that she's right for doing so, and believes that we should all be prepared for all possibilities. "Better safe than sorry." If I'm not thoroughly prepared for a situation I'm about to go into, she'll cite a worst-case scenario, "what if" this happens -- now matter how ridiculously unlikely it is, she thinks it's irresponsible to brush it off if it's even a remote possibility, and if it's not a scenario you can prepare for, then she'll say the whole idea is not worth it. Because "what if" this happens? So I don't even tell her about half the things I do when I go places.

LOL. You're so kind. That's one of the reasons why I think Enneagram is so relevant: so that we can begin to see that our behavioral tendencies are not who we are, and thus are things that we need to move past.

As a 5 raised in traditional family, maybe also having 1 in my tritype, i am able to guess what can be counted weird in society(like with breastfeeding mother in public). And i really try not to seem weird. Even tho if i see such a mother(for ex.), i would be qustion "why would does she do such an intimate thing in public?", but wouldn't judge her. I think about the preservation stuff(about hotels and etc.) both 5 and 6 would act the same in this kind of situation. The preparation for "worst case scanario" is kind the same in this situation, isn't it? both 5 and 6 would just want to prepare for them. The only thing i guess might be the point is the how obsessed would 5 and 6 be in this situation(where 5 would be less obsessed with this kind of information, cause it feels like the 5 would just check the info until he/she feels competent enough TO be prepared for worse case scanation, am i right?) About societal expectations - i follow a rule (as i see) when i feel i can be judged / punished. Or if i feel i'm obligated. It's not only about the punishment, i mean, there are some rules i feel like i must follow. Maybe cause of my LSI ISTJ persona, i dunno. I mean, obvious rules, like "Don't say some shit to this person if he won't change and will feel hurt, cause you will only make yourself an enemy, and you most likely don't need this". I dunno how true this stuff with "6s try to be liked", but thx for the point! Guess i can use it in the future to analyze. So your main point is that 5 are less preservant than 6, as i see. About people being illogical or no - the thing i can say i'm really angry to ones who just state some unlogical thing, whilst not knowing much about what they say. But if people really believe in their values and not try to make me/others do the same, i almost fully accept their beliefs. About the dimensions of thinking, hm. Don't really know what people think of my thinking. It seems like sometimes i'm too sure of my views, whilst i'm not i try to build this 4 dimensional tree of directions.

I relate to both type of security you mentioned. The 6 is accurate for me when it comes to verbal presentation at school. I don't want to fuck it up because I know I'm bad at it, so I need to prepare a lot for different scenarios. And also when I go about town, I need to plan for my time so that I don't stand still someplace and become overwhelmed by people walking past me or other noisy elements xP

If a 6 is counter-phobic, or a Sx variant, would they be less likely to be overwhelmed by fear or worry? Would it just be that they make sure that things stay safe, without getting emotional? Or is that more likely for a 6w5 than a 6w7, and it has nothing to do with the variant? Yeah, three questions all at once but please respond. I disagree about 6s being a "kiss-ass", I look out for myself, I don't care about fitting in. If I make some friends, cool, if not, then I'm done with them. I do follow rules but it's not to make people like me, it's to keep myself safe.

At 12:18, when you said you were ashamed for checking the locks a couple of time... are you simply being humble or you truly mean that? Because like, I don't see how is that shameful. I do that too. Mostly because... uh, I don't want my stuff to be stolen? I know that I can be forgetful sometimes, misplacing keys when I was being absent-minded, forgetting to close the door because I thought I will do that later and then totally forget about it, things like that. So obviously, it makes sense to check it a couple of times if I have to. And yes, I've done the 'turn off the engine, walk a couple of blocks, just to check the lock' thing.

I read somewhere that 6s use more linear thinking and that they like systems in place. while 5s enjoys questioning a system more.... and that they are way less practical because of that than 6s. So I'd say it's pretty accurate overall that many INTPs type as 5s. But that's just one piece of information. There are so many -.-

I don't know you outside of this one video and I'm not a mental health professional, either but you seem more like a turbulent ENFP because of the high amount of extraverted intuition tangents seeming very ADHD/OCD going all over the place while simultaneously trying to be structured. Plus you keep referring back to past experiences (Si) with great detail, something INFJ aren't known for being their demon function. Perhaps you're experiencing Si grip stress? Also, 6w7 is extremely common among highly neurotic ENFP.
