Cherokee, great story, I served 26 years in the Air Force and had a passion for tech. 17 years ago I got my first cert A+, and now at 62 I have a Masters in IT Project Management and the PMP, I currently work as a DOD Contractor in IT for the last 12 years. Additionally I am still learning through IT Pro TV, great content and great work. Thank you, Lloyd Deem, PMP

THANK YOU for this! I am 44 and have been considering going into IT and getting the CompTIA A+ certification, but have had doubts if I will be able to land a job at my age. I NEEDED to hear this!

I'm 44 with the same worries. Doubt creeps in every once in awhile. I signed up for the annual membership. There's alot to learn. Today I just learned how to kill a task through command prompt. Lol I'm very excited. Baby steps 😁👍🏻

I am 49 years old and want to transition out of the classroom and into an IT career that combines my knowledge of education/teaching and passion for teamwork into an IT career. However, I keep hearing from my friends that I am too old and that 30 year old “techies” will get all of the jobs. Any advise and suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Going from a Correctional officer to IT. This is going to be challenging. Wes Bryan's story is my reminder of what's possible. Although I think his memory retention is much stronger than mine. Who knows more acronyms than him!

You should quantify "Too Old". I am turning 50 this year... is that too old?

I think the point is that if you're willing to put in the effort, you're not too old. Go for it!

GBRL I’m turning 36 soon and want a career on IT. What would you recommend to learn first in order to land a job that can support a family?
