Hi Josh, your video literally could NOT be more timely, especially for your viewers who may read this comment: I am 58 years old and was offered an IT Security position just this past week so, yes, in cybersecurity, there is less ageism if you can perform the work and demonstrate your abilities.

Don’t feel discouraged you got this here at 31 and I’m at it. Almost done with my cert with Google and after doing the CompTIA A+ cert.

The worry is about “starting” late, not being old while being in the field. I bet a lot of your older colleagues started earlier and just “aged” in the field

Thanks Josh for the reassurance. As someone going to turn 40 in 6 months as well and just starting out on the road to a career change this is very motivational. 👍🏼

I will 41 this year and tomorrow I would have served 9 months As a Technology help desk Specialist internship for the Amercrops Vista Service and I've gained a lot of experience and knowledge. So use this as fuel to become the best version of yourself in this field.

Just took my Comptia Sec+ and passed with 2 points. Never felt that much relief before because If I failed I probably wouldn't be able to take it again for around 5-6 months haha. Thanks for the content, man

I think age can be a benefit as long as you have the credentials to get the interview in the first place. Acquiring starting credentials and skills is the hardest part.

Thank you for the message, I'm going to back to school at the age of 45. I've been worried companies want to hire younger people due to pay rates. I was also told I'm too old to go back to school because it will be so hard to find a job at my age.

Love your videos Josh. But I have to say that most people are concerned about starting late “Old” in the tech industry and not necessarily being old while having a bunch of relevant experience already.

Companies will hire whoever is the most qualified. However, you will still compete against thousands of others trying for the same jobs. The market is oversaturated.

This is not just for IT per se, but any job you get it’s very hard for someone who is middle age or higher to get a job despite what the EOE says. It’s not fair but that is the truth and been like that for many decades. I’d say go for it if you have the experience and education/certifications. You got to hit it out of the park and sell yourself to employer.

Would you say that after what happened with CrowdStrike, the demand for cybersecurity jobs will drastically increase?
@isis33192 ай бұрын
That wasn't a cyber attack. It was an update they released which messed things up But let's say it was (hyperthetically). I think if something like that caused most of the world to come to a standstill, it would deter and scare away those who naturally lack confidence (because they'd be wondering how they'd deal with the pressure of sorting out something so time sensitive at a global level). But it would motivate those who enjoy a challenge

@@isis3319 Would you say that if companies that were affected by this update had better cybersecurity and IT teams, damage would be significantly lower?

I’m debating if I should sign up for your IT course or the cybersecurity course. My ultimate goal is to get into cybersecurity but constantly heard that most cybersecurity professionals started with the IT help desk roles. Any advice?

Thank you for this video! As several have shared I am older than many, so this provided some encouragement. I do also have a question regarding the never ending world of certifications. If you could share your thoughts regarding the Comptia Cysa - 003 versus a newer cert OFFSec SEC - 100: CyberCore - Security Essentials. I will be taking the course that you share with thus, but I also wondered which of these would be "overall" better? Thank you for any feedback

@Josh, quick question! Do you know if we need to take your IT course before taking your cyber course as a prerequisite or can we take the cyber course without any prior experience?

I have a unique situation, I took a new job that will pay for my masters but part of the job is proctoring Pearson Vue which includes all comp tia test so I will not be able to get any certs. Will a master in cybersecurity technology be enough to land a job?

On a related note, is there an excessive time where federal/DoD employment is seen as a red flag? My concern isn’t necessarily my personal age, but I feel that the “age” of my mil/civil service employment is making me un-hireable in the private sector.
@troyknights33422 ай бұрын
Why would it make you unhireable?
@evans_northwest2 ай бұрын
@@troyknights3342 Too much time as a fed, plus being over 35. I've been told it does.
