When people were having issues with their 13th gen CPUs people dismissed it. It is sad that it wasn't until a Korean company came out and said intel was fucked that people started to notice and now with level1 and GN getting on it people are finally starting to see how bad it really is.

tbh it was the 14th gen release that accelerated the issue and widespread issues popped up. That's when Nvidia/Epic also shared their information as more UE5+ games started to come out.

Yeah I agree. Smaller tech KZbinrs like me can’t really move the needle on these issues. It takes bigger creators to do it. But also Intel has a customer base that is used to a “just works” product. So their hesitancy makes sense. But still when multiple creators report on it, maybe it’s time to take it seriously. In the PC community we have a bad tendency to assume that if our hardware is fine, then everyone else with the same hardware is also fine. But that is simply not true.

Finally ditched hackintosh and am fully a Reaper and Wavelab user for my primary work. Every now and then I'm forced to rent Pro Tools for a job but other than that it's long gone. I used to love Apple. Now Windows seems the wise place to be, the place where your investment lasts the longest and there's far less trouble with planned obsolescence, driver conflicts and rigid hardware configurations. While still with zero money, I decided to have a look at some basic computer parts for a AMD based system. APU, motherboard, RAM. The funny thing is that one of the reasons I would consider such a build (if I had money) is the long term support for the AM5 socket. Unless I am mistaken at least the next series of CPUs/APUs by AMD will be supported by AM5. Something which let's face it Intel is not great at. Add to that the what appears to be very good power consumption for the CPU/APUs. I said funny thing based on the lower length of time AMD usually supports their GPUs with drivers compared to Nvidia. My point is, good video. Also, love the shirt.

This pc runs fantastic. Now when I built it about 5 years ago, I had all kinds of problems. Mainly my ram would not run at 3200 with expo on, or at least consistently. Testing the memory with memtest would always pass. Then finally I swapped the memory out with my Asrock B450m pro board (Same memory) and no more issues in expo. I even took the memory from the Asus and put that into the Asrock and got the same error's on that pc. Needless to say, I bought new memory and not a problem since. Ok, I'm not a gamer, I just do live streams and edit video (Davinci Resolve Free). I just like to build something new like every 5 years or so. I was thinking about going intel, but they have their own issues with the Gen 13 and 14. I was thinking about going with a Ryzen 7 7000 or the Ryzen 7 7000x. Probably a B650 or B650e motherboard. I think the combination of the 5's in the title giving it a bit of a ring, or like numeric alliteration, on top of the fact that people will be looking for 2025 updated videos throughout the year, will really help to set the stage for changing the narrative on AM5. Although I know Ad Revenue is down in January, so maybe it could be a late December video or something.

Great video. So much of that learninig curve that goes on when Newer hardware comes out. There has to be an expected time for the issues to be found and dealt with. I would bet that the new AMD 9000 series will have it's learning curve to work out any issues that can't be known about until there are a greater number of systems being used - which are likely to discover the needed to be fixed unforseen issues. There should be fewer with the 9000 series then there was with the earlier series. We all know the early adaptors olf any technology are the " Last " line of tester's for it. Which is why I wait a little bit before buying a new generation of hardware. I am knowledgeable enought that I can use newer hardware and not have too many issues because it's new hardware and if I should encounter any issues ; I can deal with it after researching the cause of the issues and probable fixes for it.

Honestly, my AM5 PCs have been the most hassle free PCs I have had in years. I have 2 at the moment, the Asus ROG Strix X670E-F with a 7800X3D and B650E-I with an 8700G and short of me messing around tweaking them which is guaranteed to cause problems at some point while you are pushing the limits, they have been rock solid. The only real Issue i had was with the DDR5 7800 I put in the 8700G PC and that was literally the RAM's problem as the timings are so poor out of the box, but I did resolve that. I am happy enough that I am not even looking at the next Intel CPU given I upgrade each gen (I don't smoke, drink or do drugs, my vice is gadgets, which is probably cheaper as well), I am waiting to see what the 9800X3D is is like. I did like like sticking with intel as old CPUs once they had done the rounds with family and friends and I had passed on newer one to them, were great for my Plex server thanks to Quicksync, but now I have and Arc A310 and thats a class of card that is cheap to upgrade and better than the CPU igpu equivalent and is CPU agnostic, so now I have choices instead of the latest i9 or whatever Intel calls them next.

Ouch! That's why I always heat up my CPUs with stress test software before removing the coolers to soften up the thermal paste. Btw, the pins on a motherboard are much more delicate and harder to fix if damaged and should be handled with even more care. The thought of my CPU slipping out of my fingers and dropping onto the motherboard pins as I'm installing it still gives me nightmares. 😄

Man... the PTSD from when I bent my Pentium 4 Extreme pins in 2004... that was the last time that happened to me though haha. I had to drop in a Celeron til I could replace it, I'd guess that was a pretty similar performance drop at the time haha. Not for nothing, but you can bend pins on an LGA just as easily, and they're even more nightmarish to fix than PGA.

The point you made about AMD only "officially" supporting 5200Mhz RAM. I'm glad you pointed that out, but to be completely fair to the random people of the internet, AMD has to take a considerable amount of blame for that confusion. You may not be aware of this, but back when the first AM5 reviews started going out, AMD supplied all of the reviewers with not only the CPUs and motherboard, but also the RAM. And strongly encouraged reviewers to review AM5 using the DDR5 6000 modules as they (AMD) themselves, at that time, claimed they felt it was the sweetspot for AM5 performance. This is not something the community coined, it was AMD themselves that pushed that understanding because they wanted their CPUs to be reviewed in the best possible light even though they didn't "officially" support it. So you can't really blame the community for coming away from reviews with "an understanding or impression" when it was AMD that pushed that narrative in the first place. I even commented at the time that I felt it was a little disingenuous for AMD to push the 6000Mhz narrative when they only officially support 5200Mhz as outlined by their own product pages. Regardless of whether I agreed with their assessment of 6000Mhz or not, it doesn't change the fact that the review baseline scores published by all the major tech outlets reflect performance metrics that AMD don't officially support. In the past, numbers garnered under those kinds of conditions would've been highlighted and tagged as "overclocked" metrics, because they were outside "officially" supported conditions. But for some reason, this time, AMD managed to present a picture that this is the performance everyone would get, when that just wasn't the case. Now 6000Mhz is really easy to hit today. I'm running 64GB of 6000CL30 on my 7950X right now. And while I am happy with it, I still think the reviews should've highlighted those numbers as "overclocked" or "DDR5-6000" metrics and AMD never should've been allowed to dictate a testing configuration to push a "baseline" metrics narrative that's not officially supported. It's ethically dishonest, pure and simple. But to be fair, Intel does the same thing, so I can't really single AMD out on that one.

The 7000 series still is early AM5 with some issues, it's just that most now are known and circumvented well enough. This, and better prices, make AM5 a recommendation for NEW HIGHEND systems - low to midrange, especially the bang for the buck category, may still want to check out Zen 3 / Ryzen 5000 to this day. What has changed is the CPU recommendation for at least entry level AM5 - the Ryzen 7800X3D still is the gaming king, and apparently still on eye level even with the announced early Zen 5. Those new Zen 4 CPUs are: - Ryzen 8000 series, most notably the Ryzen 5 8600G, which offers a lot of performance and 1080p entry level gaming at a very good price. - Ryzen 7 7735HS, a CPU with equal graphics performance and comparable total performance to the 8600G, which can be found in many notebooks and mini PCs. So, while still very good, I wouldn't buy 7500F, 7600 and 7600X anymore, simply because there now are better options for less.

I am still having issues with the AM5 7950X3D on ASUS X670E Crosshair Extreme with Corsair Dominator Platinum 6000 Ddr5. I am using the latest bios from Asus and every so often I have to do the entire power cycle to get the system to boot. So far MB has been RMA`ed, CPU RMA`ed, recently purchased new Corsair Dominator Ddr5 Titanium 6000 that is on QVL for MB. This slowed the crashes down, but still happening. Pulled the RTX4090 for RMA 2 days ago. Put in a 4060ti for testing. Next step is to send the motherboard back to ASUS. Worse choice I ever made was adopting AM5 platform. With Intel in the toilet with 13th, 14th generation I am stuck with AM5 platform that crashes daily.

@@skurt97 The PSU checks out each rail is providing the correct voltage and amps. Also my PSU is Thor 1200W Platinum II way over kill. Video crashes have stopped since the 4060TI was installed with removal Using DDU of all 4090 software. Also Windows stopped reporting hardware crash on product 256_1 gpu 1. If only the usb crashes would stop after the system has warmed up. Going to send the X670E Crosshair Extreme back to ASUS for the second time. Paying for the shipping is starting to add up. Can not get windows to give a dump file when the usbs disconnect. Edit, since new domunator titaniums ddr5 6000 were installed the A1,46, C5 and power off at psu does not to be done. Corsair is replacing the Dominator platinum under warranty. I will use them on another build to recover some monies as for the x670 platform i have no trust in the chipset.

I am referring to the MSI x670e ^^ personally I use the b650 for the 7800x3d with the ram mentioned above with a 3070. Consider deactivating fast startup in the power options if it is not already done and last maj bios ^^. I hope your problem is solved

I’m curious on how many people buy a Zen 5 CPU, put it in their X670E motherboard and wonder why it won’t post. AMD won’t have X870E motherboards available at launch of 9000 series.

Sorry 6000mhz kit for memory
@ErockOnTech
@ErockOnTech 4 ай бұрын
@@ElepticSteve No problem and thank you! My only recommendation is to make sure your bios is fully up to date. Then make sure you have the latest AMD chipset drivers installed. After that, make sure your bios is loaded with "Load Optimized Defaults." Save and exit. Boot into windows and make sure everything is stable. From there, I would restart and go back into Bios. Enable EXPO to get 6000 MHz, BUT then manually lower the speed to 5200 MHz. This will give you faster speed over default and still give you the better timings of EXPO. This should be perfectly stable with zero issues. After that, you can try to manually increase the speed a little bit at a time and maybe eventually 6000 MHz will work for you. Otherwise, you can stick with 5200 MHz for the time being or get another RAM kit on the QVL that was tested and verified at 6000 MHz.

@@fallenlegion1828oh I see. To my knowledge, project Lasso was released in order to help with this CCD issue. However, supposedly, today that is no longer needed as Windows has been fixed. Now the CCDs are properly assigned automatically from what I’ve been told. Again, I have not personally tested this.
