what a beauty of a board, and so much quality of life improvements as well, the spring loaded m.2 lock, the pcie slot release button, cooler compatibility with AM4 but then they had to screw up the audio, for a pricey board its really sad. thanks again for the wonderful video and hard work behind the scenes !

Yea I was going to get this board and it has no ESS DAC like the X570 master. I listen to music when I am on my desktop with nice audio system. Now I might be forced into Asus hero. Yes get a usb DAC . But you buy this expensive board and need to keep adding stuff to it. The extreme has a bad M.2 control. I like the 3 and 4 M.2 on the chipset because it will not mess with the GPU lanes.

My next board, cannot wait to build it. I was a bit disappointed in the first iteration boards not coming with physical USB4 support, but then again, at the current time I am quite satisfied with USB 3.2. And if it really is that important, they will support add-in cards for it.

Not a fan of the audio being cut down on Mobos. It's fine if you only use a headset, but anything past that and you'll probably need to drop in a sound card which will be crowded for space with 3+ slot GPUs.

I am currently using the Gigabyte x570s Aorus Master and love it...rock solid motherboard...I've already begun buying parts for an AM5 custom loop build... Gigabyte looks like they have another winner with the new Master board. Please let us know if that AM5 backplate is removable. The socket is supposed to be AM4 compatible but the stock AM5 backplate is supposed to be non-removable. That could cause issues for people who certain AM4 water blocks.
@FerW2043S

I'm pretty sure it is, you need to remove it to install the EK AM5 blocks, for example.
@GSP-76
@GSP-76 2 жыл бұрын
@@FerW2043S it was reported that the backplate for AM5 was non removable...but that backplate on the Gigabyte board looks identical to the AM4 backplate so I'm thinking maybe Gigabyte isn't using the AMD backplate perhaps? Or it could be that the new backplate looks like the AM4 backplate but isn't removable...the problem is that some water blocks need the backplate to be removed to work. The EK blocks use their own backplate. I'm really hoping I can use mine because a new one is gonna cost $185.
@FerW2043S

@@FerW2043S EK created their own backplate if you want to use an AM4 block. They're selling it for $20 and it does require removal of the stock AM5 backplate...but I was wrong and the stock backplate is removable. EK includes the hex wrench you need to remove it. Once the stock backplate is removed, you put the stock CPU retention bracket back on but into the EK bracket instead...then you're good to go with the AM4 block. I just bought an AM5 block because I don't want to remove the stock backplate.

I wonder why only Asus came out with an ITX board with this generation? Does the two X670 chipsets make it so hard to cram them onto the board for Gigabyte, MSI, and ASRock?
@WilliamChoochootrain
@WilliamChoochootrain 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, so much so that Asus even moved all the audio stuff onto an external dac for the itx board, and reduced the sata port count to just 2. Msi also sited the dual chipsets as the reason why they'll only be doing itx on b650.

Probably won't see 3D V-cache version of zen4, at least in this state with those temps and TDP, it's waaay too high and would need to clock it down a lot which would completely destroy whole advantage of v-cache
@Swindy
@Swindy 2 жыл бұрын
Idk I think they might have a solution. Der8auer showed there's a ton of space that the IHS is filling up to maintain cooler compatibility, but in the future that room could also be used for die's with 3D V-Cache on it, which would mean that the die is in more direct contact with the IHS and lower temps (or the same, who knows)
@bits2646
@bits2646 2 жыл бұрын
@@Swindy I just wonndered if 3d V-cache is even possible with those high temps and how additional die height with lower IHS would impact the temps and ability to have additional cache and run it safely, that's why there was only 5800x3d and not higher, maybe we'll see on 7600 and 7700 series with vcache as 7800 and 7850x3d, I dont think 7900 and 7950 could run vcache safely on that tdp, lower the tdp and you haven't achieved anything... I can tell you what I h8t3 about it already just by having an dead on arrival AORUS x670 Elite AX mobo. Those status LEDs are worthless. And look where the CMOS battery is. Under a Heat sink. I'm not joking. You can't get to it without surgery. I have no idea how to take the heat sink off to get to the CMOS button batery. Also, the DIMM stick slots are too close together, there is no ventilation clearance between DIMMs. Maybe not a big thing, but it would be nice to have some air flow for those middle two sticks. Qflash didn't work for me at all. Also, though your m.2 drives may clip in, you still have to unscrew the heat sinks over them, so is it really a win. Not really. You're stilld ealing with unscrewing things, which in a vertical case with junk inside, is a PITA. Really not liking the stripped down audio.

Why are you trying to remove the battery unless you need to replace a dead one with a new one? Just jump the clear cmos pins if you need to reset cmos.
@choppergirl
@choppergirl Жыл бұрын
@@o0Silverwolf0o Because I'm blind, and putting in a brand new battery while the motherboard was out would be a heck of a lot easier than 2 years later when it's crammed under my desk in the dark with a big 3 fan cpu card over the top of it and connected to a rat's nest of cables. There appears to be some kind of spring loaded leaver above the heatsink... I don't know if this is a release mechanism or what. At any rate, only a boneheaddesigner puts the CMOS battery under a heatsink.
@o0Silverwolf0o

@choppergirl well let me save you some time and trouble. You don't need to change the battery that often. It will last 3 years if you leave it unpowered. The more your computer is powered, the longer the battery will last. With regular use it should last 5+ years up to 10+ even. Most people will have replaced the entire system before the battery dies.

@@o0Silverwolf0o Not me, this will be thevlast system I build. 7950x 128gb ram Corsair 5000x white case h150i AIO 3080v gpu. I built it blind 50% vision 50% by feel. I upgrade when its a 10x jump in performance... in thos case from an FX 8350 Passmark 6,000 to a 7950x passmark 63,000 underclocked by maybe 5%. I've repaired upward of 300-400 systems ib my life so this Corsair RGB Chrristmas tree is my last. Mainly done to cut my video rendrr time from 200s to 20s. Im more familiar with cmos batteries than you will ever know. On most Macs and some Dells the system will not post video if the cmos is dead. Reconfiguring an AMI bios blind after a power spike erases your bios is sketchy at best. Fortunately the YEFI bios ob this new system has a blind friendly scheme and you can save your bios profile to the file system. So if I lose the battery I at least wont lose the settings saved to ssd.

I want to see if the budget level AX board is just as good. I heard only the Extreme comes with a different VRM, so does that mean all boards can handle up to 7950X just fine and it's just a difference in other features? I really need to know.
@GSP-76
@GSP-76 2 жыл бұрын
Yes...all boards will be able to handle the 7950x. The VRM problem during AM4 won't happen now. This board has a 16+2 design with a 105A load. That's ridiculously powerful. You don't need anything remotely that powerful for a 7950x. Even the $200 boards will be able to handle the 16 core CPU. I'm just hoping AMD supports x670 throughout the AM5 life cycle. I'd rather buy one expensive high end board now than having to upgrade again down the line.

BIOS reset also solves restart problems, until next restart Having latest bios and drivers with officially compatible memory, this motherboard works periodically. Eh, most people custom building PC's don't buy rubbish parts and know the value of them so in many cases they'll sell them or repurpose them. I've got a server rack full of 10 year old computers I'm finally starting to slowly replace and since they still work I'll give them a clean, make sure they run well and then sell them to other people to run office programs and stuff. I'd be more concerned about all the laptops that die after 3 years or the pre-builts people buy off the shelf and toss them in the trash just because they don't know how to reinstall Windows.
