Alex, interviewing these fascinating people is an absolutely wonderful new direction for Curiosity Inc. You have the rare gift of somehow taking yourself completely out of the frame and allowing your subjects to speak for themselves and tell their stories without interruption. That is so rare in interviewers these days. So many times we have to endure the interviewer, interjecting themselves into the conversation, interrupting the story if often only for the purpose of reminding us viewers how “important” they are. Thankfully, you do not do that! I am fond of saying everyone has a story, and you have shone the spotlight on them rather than on yourself. Can’t wait to see what other interesting characters you will find.

Amanda gives a great description of her collection and why it is so special. Visiting other collectors rivals the hoarder videos. Alex is developing a nice mix of automotive, collector visits, hoarder house projects, real estate ventures, commercial endeavors, and humanity efforts. A very robust and entertaining channel. Hats off to Alex and a warm thank you for providing A+++ content.

This is by far one of the most enjoyable programs I have ever watched. I share many of the interests which Amanda highlights in the program. I have small bunches of vintage photos of families and feel that, even though I don't know names, I know them from across the years. I am surprised that Amanda did not mention Vivian Maier, the incredible mysterious street photographer whose work has just surfaced recently. Great show!

What an extraordinary collection! I collect images, slides, glass negatives, and black & white negatives. My dad was a professional photographer, a photojournalist, and a photography professor and even assisted Eugene W Smith, a famous photographer. I managed a camera store from the early 1990’s through 2013 & that definitely sparked my interest in my collection.

Awesome video! My father is in his mid-80s and had taken thousands of slides in the 60s-70s-80s, including the time he served in Korea in the US Army in the early 1960s.. He asked if I would go through the slides and have the Korea pictures digitized to print out hard copies. What an endeavor! It was fascinating to go through ALL of the slides and find, not only his historic pictures from Korea, but also all of his other pictures of the early years of our family, extended family members, memorable trips, other historic events, etc. I was amazed at the good quality of the slides after 50+ years! Needless to say, he was extremely excited himself to revisit his time in Korea, from 60 years ago.

What an incredible collection! That was so interesting. Btw those Strandkörbe (beach baskets) are still very much in use on the beaches of the North and Baltic Seas here in Germany. It's very windy there, so it's really nice to sit in a basket. They are rented and forget trying to sit in one without paying! (We didn't know on our first visit and were soon reprimanded.)

Thank you so very much for this video Alex and Amanda! I found it very inspirational. I pulled out the box of old 35 mm slides of photos my dad took in the 1950s, the one gathering dust in the basement. I thought I had seen all the photos as a kid but it turned out that I hadn't seen most of them. And there were some amazing family memories, beautiful color photos of family gatherings taken during a time when most families didn't have cameras. So I got a light box (like Amanda's) and slide scanner and set to work sorting and scanning. There were over a thousand slides, some in poor condition. After color-correcting and lots of Photoshopping, I ultimately assembled numerous small albums of prints that I shipped to relatives and old family friends with photos of their families from nearly 70 years ago. One album contained dozens of photos of my aunt and uncle's wedding that they had never seen before--boy were they delighted and surprised, especially since the only photos they had were B&W ones that had long ago faded away. Thank you for the incredibly inspirational video that inspired this joyful and gratifying family project. I never would have embarked on this project had I not been inspired by Amanda's love for old slides. And yes, I saved the slides of all the 1950s "mystery ladies" with their cigarettes and martinis. I'll be happy to mail them to Amanda if she likes. Thank you!

My grandparents had one of those viewers and I was the only one interested in it. But when they moved her out to assisted living and went through the house before demolishing the house I was in Germany so I don't know what happened to it. I couldn't believe that they left 4 super nice fireplace mantels with the marble surrounds. And all of the fancy doors and light fixtures. It still makes me physically ill to think about. That house was built before my grandparents were born.

First I want to say I love this idea of showing what people collect! What a great idea and so interesting! Secondly I think this person should do an art show type of display! I would pay to see that! Also that picture of the table with things all on it I would love to just look at something like that to see all the neat things on display. I love looking at picture people show me and I don’t really look at the people in them I look at what’s around them😂 I don’t know if that’s rude but I’ll point things out that they didn’t realize is in the picture. I also think these type of pictures would make wonderful puzzles. I know that’s weird but I always think that when I see certain pictures. I don’t even do puzzle a lot but I always go to that.
