I didnt realise that was shin splints. I thought that was the front of the leg. I have the issue you are saying for 4 years and tried the stretching and massages and most of your tips since. It started off as a numb foot and then an ache in the lower shin on the bone, had it checked and they thought it was the membrane was inflamed. It has changed sensations a lot since then, constantly evolving. Still managed to do 6 ultra marathons with it and ironman races but nowhere as well as i used to. Starting to improve now finally. I have found the massage gun virtually daily in lace of normal massages has been brilliant loosening up all the calf muscles being able to do it when i have really needed it. The pressure point end with oils is something i have been doing along the shin bone both sides and even into the ankle joint as it clicks and cracks a lot during the day regardless of exercising or not and that works well. Definitely helped, seeing your images it looks like the tendon on the inside of the ankle is the culprit. Figure it is either that or the nerve getting stuck and messing everything up. Changing my running style to my old one which was feet right on the centre line instead of under my hips like my style evolved into has also helped keeping the tendons moving better. Definitely doing your routines will help for anyone trying to fix it, it is essentially what i have been working on since summer and it has been helping. Good to see such a nicely detailed video on it.

I’ve had shin splints for 10 years! And they’ve never got any better... trying to play a bit of football again after a few years out and the usual soreness and dull ache in lower legs 😔
