It is absolutely true that online voting can be made secure. However, in the current climate, there is no way that change can be made in the near future. It will happen eventually. I imagine FRS to confirm who logged on and a one-use password for the vote may be the way to go, but right now the deniers are convinced in-person paper ballots are the only secure vote. Of course, this is not secure and is often used by autocracies in less affluent countries to maintain power.

I am an Australian, forgive me. I live in an extremely stable democracy and the US has historically been our closest ally and indeed closest of friends. You are in a five alarm fire situation. The 6th January, 2021 was the most shocking thing I have seen in a developed country in my lifetime (over fifty years) where civil society is breaking down in real time. Your election deniers, Qanon devotee's and Trump supporters have brought you to the brink. You all laugh at Australia having manditory voting, yep you are fined if you do not vote. But our system always pulls to the centre where most people are. Our elections are happy occasions where we all hold our collective breath to see the results, we know they are absolutely accurate. I am sorry but I have listened to you guys boast for fifty years about how your system is the best, it is crap and this is why. Our elections are run by comissions, completely apolitical commissions, they draw up electorate to be the fairest possible representations of our community. Influence by any political means does not exist, at all. Our Supreme Court is completely apolitical. Nobody is aware of any Justices leanings and if they came to light they would be immeditely expelled. They rule on the law only, not an interpretation of it. You MUST move to comissions as several of your democrate states have. Try to intimidate a poll worker in Australia, good luck, nobody will tollerate it, left or right. Now that is freedom.... Sorry for the criticism, I just want you guys to avoid inevitable violence.

It's sad to see fascism coming back into fashion. I'd love for citizens to have to vote here. It's crazy how many people sit out elections. Our children's futures are at stake. But then there is the worldwide ripple effect. The right wing doesn't seem to do much real thinking. They don't think through gun dangers or putting a failed businessman in charge of the country. I'm appalled constantly. Trump stole all those documents. Our international intelligence agents began being killed at record rates. Yet they condone this behavior. To them, Trump is perfection. Please continue to work against these types. I do and will. Trump has to run again to get the investigations to stop. I'm hoping he'll be indicted in the next few weeks and that justice is served to him on a paper plate. He can run as a felon while many felons can't vote. We need major changes. Biden is great. We do need to close loopholes, which means Constitutional amendments. I never would have believed Trump would be trusted as mayor of Podunk, Missouri, much less president. Be with us in spirit. I'm an agnostic. All the best to our "down under" friends.

Female thing. It’s better now, but when I grew up in the ‘60s I was a sober-faced little girl, called out by teachers and even written up for “not smiling enough”. Boys fighting in the aisles was okay, but I’d better have a smile on my face at all times. Edit: I did figure out later that it was also a weapon, smile prettily while you say things that people don’t want to hear and your message slips under the radar. Barbara might be unconsciously trained to do the same.
