I somewhat have experience on this subject, because of a condition where my hands get unusually sweaty, therefore simulating the effect of a rotating bar. For me, chin up grip is better for a bar that slips. I have a door pull up bar and my hands get sweaty so I slip off the foam before fatigue. When I do pull up grip, I can only do 14 before I slip. With a chin up grip, I can hit more than 20 before I slip. This is opposed to if I have chalk and am gripping wood, then of course the pullup grip is superior for hanging.

The rotating bar maybe is why this is so difficult. I start every morning with a min hang to stretch my back. Tim Ferris said it's great and ever since I tried it, love it. I'll try to get to 100 secs and see if I can. Although the lack of rotating bar (which will make it even easier for you to lose your hold as your grip weakens) and the mix of crowd and guy walking around and counting down to break your concentration, make it much harder. The rotating bar, for those who don't know, makes this much harder than it seems. The rotation means you cant get a comfortable grip on the bar and it always feels like you're close to slipping. Seen some people saying it's a scam, but I think this is well known enough that people knew what they were getting into. I think most people were just there to have a good time and were happy to blow 20 bucks on a fun challenge.

@@GeekClimber nice i will def check the video out when you do. I tried just hanging from a non spinning bar that long and it is way harder then it looks .
@Kamza_5 жыл бұрын
Couldn't you go with mixed grip? Each hand for each side of the bar?
@BaliLopes5 жыл бұрын
Probably not
@mikegeyen35205 жыл бұрын
No, they don't allow mixed grip because what makes it difficult is that the bar spins. A mixed grip negates that
@GeekClimber5 жыл бұрын
They don’t allow mixed grip and they don’t allow the use of chalk either. Still I think it should be beatable by experienced climbers.

Could you have done a mixed grip, like when doing a deadlift? You know, one hand one way, and the other hand the other way.
@pesavend4 жыл бұрын
Harry Pehkonen nah it is not allowed as far as I know

The great irony of working out for strength is that you never have access to it, because you're always sore from working out to maintain that strength ^_^;

one little advice if ur thumbs are long enough try to put them bellow your other fingers its the best grip for those rotating bars...
@Poats4 жыл бұрын
Are you allowed to use opposite grips when hanging from the bar? Would that prevent the bar from rolling a little better?
@201shrimpy4 жыл бұрын
Poats thats against the rules. I wonder if hook grip is allowed
@gluino4 жыл бұрын
0:47 "no mixed grip" at the lower-right corner of the yellow banner.
