Great review! Can you comment on the accuracy of the GPS? I have the original GTR and it is unusable... I'd probably buy the '2' anyway as it looks cool but a functional GPS would mean I don't have to take my phone with me when exercising....

They are on different levels. Galaxy watch 3 is a full featured smartwatch with App Store and 3rd party App Store. The Amazfit is predominantly a smart fitness watch, with no App Store.

Just a helpful hint I owned the Magic watch 2 there’s no stress meter with the iPhone if you have one plus no speech features this watch seems much better plus my Magic watch 2 packed up after 4 weeks Huawei were appalling I got it from Amazon and got my money back !

@Chigz... Do you use the watch with an iPhone? From the video it seems like it. Have you used an Apple Watch before? There are things that only Apple Watch will do from what I hear. How would you compare the two in terms of experience? I have an iPhone but I'm planning to switch to Android, so I wanted something compatible with both (and I also thought the Apple Watch was too pricey, while the Samsung Watch isn't compatible with iOS). I bought this for under 200 USD and it's just great. It looks great, has all the important features, and the battery is long-lasting. I might switch to a fancier smartwatch depending on what phone I buy, but I don't really feel the need to, to be honest. Also, great review, subscribed! :)

I'm pretty sure that the automatic workout detection could be implemented via an OTA update as I'm using the Amazfit pace which originally didn't have any kind of workout detection but now after countless updates it seems that it now has both start and stop detection albeit it mostly works with walking or running and comes up after 5-10 mins of you doing it (but it does record stats before that) and then once you have finished for 5-10 mins it will notify and ask you if you want to stop the work out.

@@happyjohn1656 Not really sure haha been using the gtr-2 for years now and I never had the auto workout detect on. It just eats away the battery. But for the mode you do have to select which kind of workout it should detect such as Walking, Running, Cycling, swimming and elliptical machine. All in all it's a nice watch really but I would recommend the newer gtr-4 for it's onboard app support. Edit: but if you're wondering about auto pause it works well when I'm just recording normal workouts. Stay still for a 20 sec and it auto pauses.

@@happyjohn1656 I'm guessing new internals for better HR tracking (note that the old gtr can't do continuous SpO2 tracking not sure bout new one), more battery life and 90 sport modes but unless you want all that the gtr 2 was already a solid watch. The battery life for me with all almost all modes on (even voice commands always active, stress and sleep monitoring) is about 5-7 days. I'm at 74% charged 2 days ago after 2 years of use. Edit : Oh yeah I'm not sure if Amazfit is still updating the watch but it's in a good place as is.

The GPS is decent enough for a smartwatch at this price point. With AOD I was able to achieve around 5.5 days with at least 1 outdoor workout daily.
