Cyril Rioli was brilliant in his first year. Like Judd though, the stats don't tell half of the story. Cyril could be the most influential player on the ground with 10-14 possesions.

Rhys Palmer was amazing in the same year and deserved the rising star award imo. He just never backed it up and fell away literally the next year. Broke my heart as a Freo supporter. Cyril was good from game one till his last game. True champion.

Slight correction at 0:25 Dean Greig for St Kilda in 1991 had 39 disposals on debut. However Sheezel did break the record for most disposals in a debut season.

Correct, however Dean was 23 years old in his debut match.

Great list as always. Did you consider mentioning Matty Rowell? Yea he got injured in Round 5 of that season but polled 9 of of a possible 12 votes (I won't include the Geelong game as he got subbed out in the first) to kick start his career and had averages of 17.6 disposals, 5.2 tackles, 1.2 goals and 4 clearances.

Thanks mate - you know what I did consider it but felt like 5 games was too little. Upon reflection though, wish I had done!

I think Paul Haselby had a really strong debut year in 2000. He averaged 21 disposals which for 2000 was quite high.

If you want to go back a little further Ben Hart debuted at 17 and was a dual AA by his second season

I know Tom Emmett played 3 games last year, but this year I think he has the rising star.

Marcus bontempelli was absolutely robbed of the rising star in 2014 played 16 games averaged 16 disposals and kicked a goal a game basically the same as Chris Judd

I think lewis taylor actually deserved it that year. He had a very consistent year and played every game. Bont was flashier bit lewy was solid.
