Cool upgrade. I have another homemade solution to bend thinwall 1.5" on a 4.5" clr but it's a bit of a pain in the ass. I made sealed plugs that get clamped on the ends of the tube and put 2000 PSI of water in it with a pressure washer and some fittings with a pressure rated bleed valve. As long as all the air is bled out first there's not really an explosive hazard. Worst case it would split and release pressure immediately. 0.93 erw went from from smashed and wrinkled on a 4.5 clr which is rated for .120 DOM, to basically perfect mandrel looking bends. By the way I did my first test S bends on some 1" today for control arms and it came out nice!

Sounds labor intensive but super creative! And it sounds like it works really well! Clever solution! -Joe
@jasonbirch11822 жыл бұрын
@@RogueFabrication putting the clamps on isn't really too hard. Biggest pain is having the water hoses. One pressure washer hose and one bleed off that had to run outside. You get a little leakage sometimes too.

In my limited experience (only used 2 other brands) you're seems like the best on the market. I still plan on getting one (sorry for delay, selling my house and buying another one is taking up my time) but once I can. I am getting one of yours. They also seem far too inexpensive for the quality. But again, this is my speculation. I will do videos on it once i get it by end up summer.

Thank you Rob. This one went through over 25 design revisions with FEA (software stress analysis) before we settled on the final design.

We haven't done much testing, but with the front roller under a mandrel head, this should be able to run WITH a mandrel attachment also... Might extend thin wall performance even farther than the mandrel alone.
@RogueFabrication Жыл бұрын
This is more likely to be helpful on higher yield strength materials that can handle more tension before fracturing... Like carbon steel and titanium. Stainless is worth trying as well. Aluminum is the one that may or may not tolerate this much profile control. Too much friction on aluminum and it will start to crack on the outside as it is pulled though the machine. -Joe

Hey, Rogue dudes. I build armor for Tacomas and 4Runners. I bend a lot of 1.75" round tube in .120 and .090 with my bender from a different company. I'm strongly considering a new bender. I read some of the other comments. From what I gather, I will see a good improvement in the .090 bends, but not in the .120 bends. Is this true? Thanks in advance. BTW, I totally respect the honesty and clarity in your videos.
@RogueFabrication2 жыл бұрын
Sam, thank you for asking. The biggest improvement is on thinner walled applications (wall ratios around 17-19), but it will still have a noticeable improvement on slightly thicker applications like the .120 wall you asked about. I discuss this in terms of wall ratio (not wall thickness), since wall thickness isn't a big deal unless it is included in a ratio with the tube diameter. Your applications are Wall Ratio (WR) 18.4 for 1.75 OD x .095, and a healthy 14.6 WR for 1.75x.120. The higher wall ratio application will have the greatest improvement. The time we tested 1.75x.120 we could still see the difference (improvement) with the naked eye. No calipers needed to prove that it worked! The application in the video is 1.625x.083, WR 19.6. Let me know if this all made sense please! -Joe
