Did you use his same amounts to make the buttercream. Sounds like too little for the amount he uses in between his cakes. Even for a 6in, 3 layer cake. I can never use so much in between my layers with only 3 sticks of butter. My cakes end up with so little buttercream, like barely anything, in between layers in order to have enough to cover the entire cake 😔

The only difference I would make is to dust the pan with dark cocoa powder instead of flout but my best results come from lining the whole inside with parchment paper and buttering it. Unless you use a silpat pan but I don't like those because that's plastic going into a hot oven. Otherwise, he nailed it though I do prefer a more dark frosting. I can't use a piping bag so I have one of the decorating guns from "Michael's" and I have to refrigerate the cakes. Makes them easier to frost for me.

Thanks for sharing your expertise!!! I Never had a cake turned out this good! I used one round pan 8” instead and then cut the 3 layers, cooked for 1:20 @ 360 and with the sleeve trick the cake was perfectly done and soft, not hard on the outside as usual!! Batter was enough for 8 extra cupcakes.
