Jay and Amber, I think you missed it on this one. At the beginning of the song, he confessed to cheating on her while she was gone somewhere. And then SHE says, well, I cheated on you, too. A lot of people commented that this song was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis of Flyte Tyme Productions but what no one has mentioned is that the song was already written by them when Human League came in to lay down the vocals. The woman's lines weren't added until the next day because the woman that was sleeping with one of the male singers complained about there not being any part for them. So Terry told them to come back the next day and he had the woman's line written and ready to record.

One of the many hits that are part of the "Minneapolis Sound," which influenced SOOOOO MUCH of the music of the 80s. This was another song produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (members of the group, The Time), who, along with Prince, impacted that whole decade of music via song production. They were also responsible for ALL of Janet Jackson's albums, Bobby Brown's hits during the 80s and early 90's, New Edition's albums when they added Johnny Gill, Johnny Gill's album production, a few of Mary J Blige's albums, and lesser known pop artists (but ones who were very stong with R&B songs of the day) like Cherelle, Alexander O'Neil, and others I've probably forgotten about. If you look up the number of songs they and Prince produced during that Era, you'd probably be shocked -- "I feel for You" by Chaka Khan, for instance, is a Prince song.

This is a hidden gem of Human League. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis were the songwriters of many hits in pop, R&B as well.

Human League were part of my record collection in the 80s, still have them. Mirror man and The Lebanon are 2 forgotten greats.

This song is a long way from the other one you reacted to. That's that "Jam & Lewis" sound. I think this group had been gone for a while and they hooked up with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and made sort of a comeback. Jam and Lewis are outstanding producers and if you have a good ear, you can recognize their sound with a lot of artists.

Some think that the song is about him cheating on her because she wasn't around when he needed her, but I believe it's that they were a couple, had a fight and (as young couples do) hastily broke up. In the short time they were apart, each slept with another, then they got back together and both regretted what had happened.

This song was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. They were powerhouse producers of Janet Jackson, New Edition, The SOS Band and many more during the 80s and 90s. They were also original members of The Time.

You do know that both of them fooled around on each other. That's why their asking for forgiveness, and saying they were only human.

This song propelled producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis into the pop universe. In fact, Prince kicked them out of the band The Time for moonlighting and making songs like this possible. You can hear their trademark sound in Janet Jackson's hit songs, as well.

I absolutely loved the human league in the 80’s, they had some real bangers. Their debut album “Dare” was full of cracking tunes. Phil oakey’s voice was unique and I have to admit that I had a bit of a crush on him 😍 Some other 🔥80s hits I’m sure you’d love: Temptation-Heaven 17, (FF) Ride on time-Black box, Sign your name-Terence Trent D’Arby, Rocket-Herbie Hancock, 19-Paul Hardcastle, (FF) The only way is up-Yazz and the plastic population, Dancing on the ceiling-Lionel Richie, (FF) Funky town-Lipps Inc, Maneater- Hall and Oates, (FF) Mickey-Toni Basil, to name but, a few. Keep doing what you’re doing, you are awesome 🥰💜🌈🙏🏻 Ps female Friday (FF)

this is 1 of many many great songs that the legendary producers/song writers/part of the group The Time. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. In the 80's/90's Jam & Lewis were the powerhouse of the music charts in pop/r&b + not counting Prince & many other Artists from M.P.LS. MN. Too many artists to list. Jam & Lewis + La Face record co. control the charts in the 80's/90's in r&b & pop. Many great songs back then to dance too/romance too/roller skate too. I enjoyed being from MN. back then when the music seen was blowing up as large as it did. So many great memories of those eras.

Honestly in 86 was not expecting the twist of her cheating on him too while they were trying to work it out. This song is so deep and relatable!! Nothing better than the 80s

This was like a book-end to their song five years earlier, "Don't You Want Me," in which a couple tell different versions about how they met----now with this song, you have a couple (ostensibly the same one) discovering they're involved in complementary cheating circumstances, kind of like a new wave Pina Colada Song.
