Very nice home theater. I always like to see people using “consumer“ products such as Plex, Synology or Denon in a home cinema. It shows the real potential of these components. I was just asked that question and no, I don’t game on it at all. The input lag would be horrendous and I’m a PC gamer (my earlier videos on my channel will prove this!) if you are after a good projector for gaming, consider the optoma uhd50, it’s only 1080p but is designed for gaming.

I also have the klipsch 250c. Great center channel and it has a decent amount of bass, more than my klipsch 28fs. Definitely upgrade your subwoofer. I used to own 2 Klipsch 12sw’s and upgraded to 1 SVS pb4000 and it made a huge improvement. It made my system sound more like an actual movie theater. That’s honestly the best way for me to describe it. It doesn’t have that boomy bass that the klipsch had but more of a deep low end bass that you would hear in an actual theater.
@BuildMontage4 жыл бұрын
I think there are a few differences between the R-12SWi and the R-12SW, i think in cabinet dimension, but I'm sure it's probably pretty close. I would LOVE SVS subs, but in Australia they are really expensive. My subs are around $1500 AUD and the SVS is around $4500 each! I'm not super impressed with the Klipsch ones, but they give decent bass while watching a movie, but I think it's more because they need to be EQ'd better than I have done it. I don't think I've tuned them properly if I'm honest. Still, it's a small room so they two r12s fill the space in proportion to the rest of the sound. Thanks for commenting!
@IvanaGiznya4 жыл бұрын
Build Montage I just looked up the specs and they are the exact same in every aspect except that the 12swi are wireless. My next speakers and subs are going to be DIY. Going to go with the ultimax 18” subwoofer in a mini Marty box. I’m thinking HTM 12’s for my front stage. You should go the DIY way for your next sub. More bang for your buck, at least here in the US not sure about the prices in your country. That’s crazy about the price of the SVS. I bought my pb4000 for $2047 USD after tax. Wish I could go back in time and tell myself to just build two 18” subs instead. Also when I upgraded from the klipsch to the SVS I was hearing bass that I’ve never heard with the klipsch subs. They were never able to play very low (only 29hz) so I was missing out on A LOT of bass.
@BuildMontage4 жыл бұрын
OK, cool! Your DIY project sounds pretty awesome. I'm definately going to consider DIY as I like making things, especially for the home theater (about to release a new vid on DIY movie poster acoustic panels!) but here in Australia, we get ripped hard with prices especially the imported US speakers like Klispsch. Good luck with your project - I'd be interested to see how it turns out.

Build Montage if you’re on FB you should join some of the Home Theater groups on there. The guys that post on there have inspired me to go the DIY route. Nice setup... how are you liking the Pioneer VSX-LX503? Why did you go with Pioneer over other brands?
@BuildMontage4 жыл бұрын
DaDevastator24_7 thanks. What do you mean by linking? All the audio cables are 16 gauge speaker wire terminated with gold plated banana plugs. There is a high speed 18gbps HDMI cable connecting the projector to the Reciever as well as all of my devices like Apple TV and Mac mini server. I guess I chose Pioneer by recommendation. I was going to go with the 11 channel but it was considerably more expensive and I changed my mind from 5.2.4 to 7.2.4 after I’d purchased it so an additional map was the cheaper option.

What would have improved things dramatically is an acoustic screen and have three identical, vertical speakers fire directly through it. If you had no room behind the screen, you could use in-wall's. Woven screens only need to have the speakers a few inches away from the material.

"...back in 2007 when literally no one had home theaters..." Almost spit out my coffee there. Don't be delusional. My first home theater was in 2003. When I started, I was YEARS behind the other hometheater trendsetters I was following on AVS Forum. My first projector for my 8 seat, two-tier level, hometheater was a $12K, Marantz VP12S1, projecting on a 120-inch screen. Back then, I had used MyHTPC, then MainLobby, then XLobby, then Windows Media Center for my media server frontend before settling on Plex. Audio setup was 7.2 at the time and my two 12 inch subs would set off the car alarm in the garage on the other side of the wall. Automated lighting was with old X10 technology controlled through the media frontend. My remote controller was a ProGear, windows tablet PC.

Sorry I didn't mean to cause such a reaction by my comment, but I do stand by it. In Australia, having theaters in homes is a relatively new thing in the mainstream. Yes, there were people that had them, sure, like any niche hobby, but now, home theaters are commonly included in plans for new homes instead of the traditional "formal lounge and dining". Your setup sounds really good BTW. I used to use WMC as well before PLEX which I think I got into around 2010. Thanks for sharing your feedback.

I love it. You did the right decisions, many small subs instead of 1 large out, in wall surrounds so that they are further away from the listening position. Theater seats that don't hit the left and right walls. Carpet, blacked out room. But there is this thing that bugs me. You said you build this room from the ground up. Why no go with speakers behind the screen ?
@BuildMontage4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I made a few mistakes of course, and one of them was speakers behind the screen. That was my original plan and I even have the speaker cables wall plates in the middle of the wall, however, two reasons. The first was I wanted inwall originally but the depth of the cavity was too shallow of the speakers I wanted, and two I couldn’t fit the screen in front and by the time I realised this, it was too late and the builder is too rigid and don’t allow changes without big penalties once construction has started. I do plan on getting a AT screen and somehow getting the speakers behind the screen but I have to really try and think about how it will work.

@BuildMontage4 жыл бұрын
Good question. I actually cover this in later videos. Basically the rear recliners are pushed right up against the back wall so any sound in wall or in wall will travel past the ears. My latest video on my channel explains this in more detail. Thanks for watching!

One of the great HT video on KZbin!! Didn't you miss 4 overhead speaker model (2:22)? Can we select other brands/models with the same features/parameters? Your video is very informative for a novice like me in the Audio field. Another area is integration with python API.. super exciting to build my own.. waiting for your next videos..
@BuildMontage4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, yes I did mention that the rear surrounds and atmos speakers were the same CDT 2650c II by Klipsch. You can check that out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGnRkpdsq6eooqc Regarding your other question, there are plenty of options available for Atmos, so if there is interest in this topic, I might do a video on some good Dolby Atmos speaker options. Also, you are in luck because the next video that is about to drop will show you exactly that and i'll do a step by step on how to do it and links to the scripts so be sure to subscribe to catch that one.

Great setup mate! I'm about to start my own home theater. I know what you mean about lighting, I'm exactly the same :) I'm currently working on a 6m x 4m starfield ceiling. Wish you lived in Brissy!

Isky thanks mate appreciate it!! Star ceiling is in my list of videos but once I finish everything. Just uploaded my latest update which is acoustic panels. Are you doing diy for your star ceiling. Would love to have a chat with u about it.
@anthonyjaisingh4 жыл бұрын
@@BuildMontage G'day buddy. Yep DIY is definitely the way to go mate. In fact mine may be revolutionary. I'm going to see if I can get a nebula or 2 on it as well :) A lot of research involved though. If you're going to do it I think the main bit of advice (if you want it looking as natural as possible) is not to have all the stars twinkling. 50% twinkle and 50% static. a bit more expense and effort but well worth it. I think trying to get the gear is the main issue. My cinema will be 5.5m x 8m with a 170-175" 2.35:1 Audio transparent screen. Would love to show you some screen shots of the 3D renders I've done :)

PLEX server can do Atmos - however - PLEX player on ATV cannot - limited to 7.1 TRUEHD. You can get Atmos on rips using the Shield Pro.

Unfortunately I don't know the name of the carpet as we did it during the building colour selection process back in 2018, but it is a plush carpet that was supplied by DiLorenzo Tiles in Bella Vista (near Sydney).

You have a nice set up the sound good and you did a good job on it and do think two channel amp for your front speakers made a different to your sound ? .

Basically I used the 2 channel amp for two of my atmos speakers which left the main reciever for the front sound stage. Thanks for commenting. Basically I had to to make it 7.2.4 over 5.2.4.

great video! i am starting a cooking youtube channel soon - was wondering if you have any tips for me...i see you have quite the views, even though the subscriber number is on the low side. keep up the great work!
@BuildMontage4 жыл бұрын
Hey Fanis, a fellow Greek I assume :) I'm blown away by the response to this video. I only had a couple of videos in total when I made this video and it just blew up (by a beginner's standards) - and at the time I think I only had around 30 subscribers in total LOL! My only advise is, learn how to use a camera, music and editing to make the best most authentic content you can - try to make it interesting - these are all things I work hard to do, and so far, I've only made 10 videos in total on my channel which I launched late January, so I'm pretty happy so far but I'm yet to capture the success of that video again - but I'm working on a couple of bigger videos which may lead to the same success. I'll follow your channel as well. Best of luck with your channel.

Build Montage Oh thank you so much. You are Greek? Haven't started the channel yet...working on content at the moment... That's amazing keep up the great work. The movie theater is awesome. I live in NYC but have a house in Greece and planning to build a movie theater as well. Will def need advice there as well. Thanks again for responding
@BuildMontage4 жыл бұрын
Sure am! Not using my full name on KZbin for now :) Cooking was the other subject I was considering, but so far Home Theater is working out well. I've gon from 20 subs to 559 in a very short time so I'm going to keep pumping. What I do is write a script, rehearse and record and re-record until I'm happy. Plus I've been learning a lot about cinematography, video editing, and sound design - which is improving with each video but alway going to be a new thing to learn. Good luck and stay safe in NYC - and best of luck with your home theater!
