It’s a “smart conveyor”. What more do you need. 😂 Seriously though, it’s mainly to address Japan’s looming population crisis, where there won’t be enough people to keep the existing road and rail freight delivery infrastructure running - so they’re looking at a 24/7, automated version. Second, descending pollution compared to existing solutions. Third, space for new infrastructure is tight in Japan. Reusing the “space between the existing stuff” means it can be a big, chunky train / extra road. Plans are quite vague but I also assume it’ll be easier to divert / extend conveyors to rural hubs, as some parts of Japan aren’t served by rail. Think that’s it. That help?
