I got The Wheel in Space from John Fitton when he ran a subscription service for new Target books in the 80s, which was a bit of luck as I only took out a subscription quite late on. So it's in mint nick. It's The Dying Days, the only Paul McGann era Virgin novel that I can never seem to find.

I also bought from John Fitton, lovely chap. Dying Days is really scarce to come by😒

Jules, Tim, thank you for this amazing journey through a wonderful book collection! All collectors do such important work as the keepers of the flame in all this book knowledge. I still have a set of all the Dragonby bibliographies of vintage UK Paperbacks produced by Richard Williams back in the day, near 50 years ago.
@JulesBurt2 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, they were THE guide back in the day. The Pan one I poured over for hours! Thanks Gary👍

Barter Books also run a model railway over the top of their bookshelves. I feel like I’m missing out! Fantastic collection and strange how it is often the way that the last book needed to complete a run isn’t the rarity you might expect.
@JulesBurt2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, I'd love to get a railway over my bookcases, maybe one day when I have a dedicated library. 👍 It is a fantastic collection, that crossword book has been on Tim's wants list for years, where can they all be??

Would love to know what Jeff thinks of my 'Pan Lozenge' term...it's starting to get wider usage. Superb video, lovely....so enjoyed working for them back in 86, should have stayed with them!

One of my biggest regrets was about ten years ago i has a complete collection of the pan books of horror stories and the ghost stories series and i threw them in the bin.
@JulesBurt2 жыл бұрын
Oh no! The last few are pricey. Number 30 sometimes sells for over £100😒

Lots of people have done similar... Increases the rarity for others' copies I guess - and the cost!

What is harder to collect paperback in mint condition or a hardcover in mint condition?
@JulesBurt2 жыл бұрын
Probably paperbacks as these are much harder to read and keep mint whereas hardbacks are far my sturdy and if you're careful, can easily be read and kept mint.

Before you die, share your collection with others. Give them away. Otherwise they will wind up in a thrift shop or the garbage dump.
