Pantera is... Philip Anselmo - Vocals Dimebag Darrell - Guitar Vinnie Paul - Drums Rex Brown - Bass These guys have 10 or so spin off bands that are definitely worth checking out if u really enjoy Pantera. All four guys were a unbelievably talented. *Down* - "Ghosts Along The Mississippi" - (Down is more of a Sabbath inspired Hard Rock/Metal band. A lot more ballads & Phil sings much more in this band. Probably 75% singing, 25% screaming. Rex joined for 2 albums. Easily the most legendary Pantera related band). *Superjoint Ritual* - "Fuck Your Enemy" - (This is Philips HARDCORE band. Little heavier than Pantera but completely different. Short 2 minute songs. Very simple, usually repetitive but thats the point. I turned my nose up to this band at first but now i love them. Great live shows too) *Philip H Anselmo & The Illegals* - "Walk Through Exits Only" (This is Phils EXTREME metal band. He wrote the entire debut himself. Arguably his heaviest band. This is the title track to the debut album. They went death metal on the follow up, not my cup of tea, but still its awesome he never repeats himself, and the upcoming 3rd album will NOT be Death metal again) *En Minor* - "On The Floor" - This is a brand new band in 2019 by Philip inspired by bands like The Cure & Morrissey. All mellow, all the time. Some have called it depression core.) *Rebel Meets Rebel* - "Heart Worn Highway" (This is Vinnie, Dime, & Rex from Pantera southern rock band. This album has some of Dimebags greatest guitar work of his career. David Allan Coe is the singer. Outside of DOWN this is my fav Pantera related band. Its awesome to hear the Pantera muscians do something 100% different) *Damageplan* - "Save Me" (This is Vinnie & Dimes post Pantera band. A little more experimental, a little more modern, some Alice In Chains influence. Very underrated) *Hellyeah* - "Blood For Blood" (This is Vinnie Pauls band after Darrell was taken. This song is the title track to their 4th album which they considered their true debut album. Skip the first 3 records. The band is a little more commercial, very catchy. Everything from 2014-2019 was very good.) *Kill Devil Hill* - "Strange" (This is Rex Browns band after he left DOWN. Very old school, traditional hard rock metal. Great singer too. 2nd Sabbath Drummer Vinny Appice was in this band. This is the music video from the debut) And u asked about Rex Brown tbe bass player, well he went solo in 2017.... *Rex Brown Band* - "Buried Alive" (This is one of the music videos from his debut. Great song, great band. Not metal at all just old school rock, like Tom Petty etc. Rex played Bass, Guitar, and is the lead singer in this band. Great band. I love seeing these Pantera guys spread their wings. Killer stuff.) *Scour* - "Dispatched" (This is Philips newer Death/Black metal band. Short songs, lije Superjoint but completely different. Very talented guys around him writing the music. Not necessarily my cup of tea but its cool to hear different stuff).

I should also add in Panteras first album with Phil Anselmo. Pantera - Power Metal (1988) This is a fantastic album that features an 18 year old Philip Anselmo sounding like Rob Halford. Its rare because this album was unavailable to buy in the 1990s because Pantera owned the right to it, not WARNER BROS. So many long time die hard Pantera fans have *no idea it even exists.* So if anyone is interested in listening to Anselmo, when he sounded like Rob Halford check it out. This album gets incorrectly labeled GLAM, but its not, at all. Its a traditional metal album. Priest & Maiden fans would probably love it, even if they dont like Pantera. Their is also a MYTH that the band was ashamed or wanted to hide this etc, also false. This album was written before Phil joined so he just threw some vocals on. CFH was the first album Philip *WROTE* with the band, that is why they considered it their true debut, because it is their debut as a four piece unit.

Some other rarities from Phil like Christ Inversion, Eibon, Iommi, and Southern Isolation. Though only a handful tracks all together. Also, Pantera PST88 from Power Metal rules. They should've played that throughout their career.

And one of the few modern metal bands in which the bass was/is even necessary. There's so much metal out there where the guitar(s) take up so much sonic space, that you can't even hear the bass.

When you know the background of this song it makes it soooo much better. Pantera opened for Megadeth and a kid got beat up for heckling Pantera during the show. The kids dad sued and said "Give me 5 minutes alone with that Phil Anselmo guy, I want to whoop his ass". So now there is a song about him

Besides being a Badass Bass player, Rex Brown, Dime, and Vinnie, were together almost from the beginning... I believe he joined in '85 or 86. I was on a layover in Dallas in late 1990, driving a big rig, when i happened to notice they were playing in Arlington, Texas. I took a cab to the gig, and witnessed a show, up to that point i had never seen before or since... The chemistry between those 4 musicians was nothing short of amazing, and i got to hang with them after the show. Dime impressed me the most with his humble attitude, he said "Hell, im just like you, I'm a fan of this music, like you are"... Truly a fine musician, and human being. The world is better place because of him. R.I.P Dime & Vinnie.

One of my ALL Time favorite bands! I unfortunately was at the show in Columbus.Ohio where DimeBag Darrell was brutally murdered on stage by a mentally, unstable, human garbage. At, this time Pantera had broken up;( Mostly Due to Phil’s drug abuse; He had a severe, back injury from stage diving at one of his concerts. He got hooked on those damn pills and the next stop is shooting H, Dope etc) So Dinebagbabd Vinnie Paul formed Damage Plan. It was at the Al Rosa Villa a great Metal venue here;it prolly only holds 2,000 tops. This guy walks on stage during the 3 song of Damage Plans set and before anyone knew what was up he pulls out a gun shouts Dime in the head and then turns gun on crowd firing and I grabbed a table and shielded mecand my girlfriend and two friends. He killed two others and luckily a CPD Officer heard the shots ( Cops always patrolled Al Rosa lot during show because people out side getting High ) The CPD Officer came in and blasted the murderer with a shotgun. One of the scariest experiences of my life; I did two tours in Iraq, 1st Infantry Division; The Big Red One, Fort Riley, Kansas. In. Iraq we were the aggressors and I was armed and had Kevlar; Lol? Here no shirt on and no weapon! RIP Dime! Keep On Rocking! Try some HateBreed , I Will Be Heard, Honor Never Dies ; are couple great ones. Powerful music with great uplifting lyrics!

You mentioned in another video that you like stories and history about this stuff, so here it goes. I attended Ozzfest 2000 in Columbus, Ohio. Going in, I thought Pantera was okay, but not as amazing as I did after that show. This was a few months after the release of their last album. If I remember correctly, they were third to last on the main stage...maybe second to last. Phil was trying to rile the crowd up, and some dude threw his prosthetic leg up on stage. Phil grabbed it, held it up, and proceeded to call out people sitting in the pavilion and in the lawn sections. He basically said that this one legged m-effer is rocking harder than anyone else at the show, and to get the eff up. Shortly after the next song started, looking at the lawn from the pavilion, you could just see people and dust flying...and then people started lighting stuff on fire in the lawn section. Such a beautiful sight as the sun is going down.

I don't know how true it is, I can't even find where I heard it from, but I heard that another band once started a fight outside a venue with Pantera. Just came across your comment. Made me remember how my grandma used to bob her head when I would play some PanterA. God I miss her!

@@NDNCarver my grandma walked out of her room into the big room .. I was watching "The Devil's Rejects" it was just coming up on the scene where Capt. Spaulding was dreaming about the woman In bed.. I paused and changed screens she asked why I stopped it. I said well it's probably not something you'll like.. she said " well .. how ya kbow? " I explained the scene.. she said " well shit I wish you all would quit acting like I don't know nothing. How you think y'all got here?" So I turned it back on.. held my breath , and entered awkward mode.. I looked over.. her belly was shaking with laughter.. " Look at that ole clown... " so I guess she at 90 was less uptight than me at 30 lol

@@masterofsparkshwy6974 THAT is funny!!! OMG, thank you for that laugh!! I used to go visit my uncle in the nursing home before this Corona. We would sit outside and joke, tell dirty jokes too. My wife was embarrassed. One of the old ladies told her... Just because we're old don't mean we lost our sense of humor! We would cut up. Those old folks enjoyed laughing. It was good to see them laugh at our young "awkward" moments. Cheers!!!

Just discovered your channel. Your videos show a clear joy for the music that others are missing. Great work. So, I haven't gone through all of your vids yet, but Phil Anselmo has a band from New Orleans called Down, and they rock. Temptations Wings, Stone the Crow, and On March the Saints would be right up your alley. Check them out!

Should listen to pre cowboy albums. Phillips first album was Power Metal. His screams are awesome before the growls. Different but awesome as well
