I really enjoy your layout videos. I have been a modeller for over 50 years, but if any new modeller asks for a source of information, one of my recommendations is to watch your videos. You have the great talent of making a good looking layout look achievable. I second the comments on the flap, btw. We can't afford to lose you!

Hi Jennifer You have made some great progress and it’s doesn’t seem that long ago you were one dingy light bulb and floor boards, now it’s starting to look more at home from the Shed layout you had. 👍Thumbs Up👍

The layout is coming on nicely Jenny. I have a suggestion for hiding that wooden post which might look a bit better that it growing out of the top of the water tower - why not put a tall chimney there instead, that way instead of looking down on a post sprouting out of the water tank the view will be more across at sky level of a sky blue post. A smoke effect painted on the post just above the top of the chimney could disguise the join further.

Jenny i think you're awesome! I am new to your videos after seeing you on Great Model Railway Challenge. Brilliant. With those posts that come up through the model..have you thought about attaching an aeroplane or a hot air balloon attached with a wire to expand the model skywards also? That would be so cool to see people ballooning above the landscape! Yeh I know...I'm 2yrs late to the party but hey ho!

Excellent work Jenny. Not only very good but quite speedy as well, don’t know how you manage it. Keep up the good work!

Jenny - for the hard to reach corner, maybe create a modular scenery section that you can just drop in ie use a verticaly curved piece (v thin ply or heavy card) to get the radius, build it up off layout maybe with a scene on top eg church in N scale etc, then just drop the whole thing in and its removable in case you need track access. I would also support all other comments to get that hatch covered - imagine weeks or months in hospital...just takes a moment when you are tired to forget and it's a load of pain which could be permanent. PS well impressed how easily the Class 25 went up the gradient - I will have a look at that incline system. Cheers

Jenny, be careful and close that loft hatch door. The grades really look good and the rolling stock is making things look busy and crowded. Please think about illuminating some of those beautiful buildings including that wonderful station. It will look great in the dark. Beautiful work - can’t wait to see it done.

Yes, suggest you put some 17mm ply over the access hatch. Surely you can put a couple of door hinges on it and swing it out of your way. Then not only are you safer, but if a train falls off this new section it is only going to fall a short way rather than one story down. Make it easy to use and you will soon wonder why you didn’t start with it there! Regards.

Good progress Jenny. Like others that hatch looks like an accident waiting to happen! I think the obelisk like things you refered to are "Trig points" full name triangulation points and they were used in creating Ordanance Survey maps. They are redundant now as GPS full fills that need. How about a small tarn as an added feature maybe leading off to a waterfall on that hillside and it should definitely be sheep not horses up at that altitude. Love the layout.
@alexsavins82645 жыл бұрын
Wow Jenny, your cracking on at some pace and the layout is looking fantastic. Am terrified of you falling through your loft hatch every time I see it lol. I spotted the doctors TARDIS on the hillside, hope it’s flashing light works too. You were saying about a monument or similar on your mountain and seeing you called it Wear yard how about something similar to the “ Penshaw monument “ just outside of Sunderland city perched high on a hilltop just off the A19, can be seen for miles. Keep up the good work and the enjoyable videos

Some fantastic developments there, well done!! May I suggest building a lift up ‘flap’ / board over the loft hatch, strong enough to support human weight, then you need need not fear working on that corner. Definitely dont want to see nor hear you’ve ended up in hosp.

Hi Jenniffer. Glad you are using (as suggested)Jay Cloths with PVA but! If you use smaller pieces of cloth and overlap them you will not suffer the baggy-ness and folds you seem to be getting, also three ply's with 24hrs between coats will give a very solid structure. Keep up the excellent layout build. Regards. Alan - FH 12 Also in the loft making similar...

Hi - wow , very quickly taking shape. One recommendation, for your remaining scenery, leave a half to one inch gap between your scenery and roof lining to allow ventilation. It will help keep mould at bay. Crack on!

Looking very good there Jenni. Your right about that hill looking a bit Cumbrian. I lived in Workington for a year or so as a kid in the 70's and my gut reaction to seeing that was that it reminded me of the Cumbrian coast line around St Bees, Whitehaven and Harrington!! When you mention the obolisk, are you thinking of the trig-points the OS use for map making? If so, go for it, don't think I've ever seen one of those modeled. :)
@JenniferEKirk5 жыл бұрын
Jon Wisbey thanks! Yes I was thinking of one of those.

When you wet the brown spots with your glue, you could blow the ground foam out of your hand to get it to stick. Maybe? Idk if it will work but you could try it to see.

Really enjoyed your update and, indeed, you are making really good progress. You highlighted 2 problematic corners which, in your enthusiasm to make things look awesome in the foreground, need some attention. May I make a suggestion. Why don't you take a template of the areas to be developed, then using say a 6mm piece of plywood/mdf build a diorama in another room, and when completed, just slot them into place on your layout. Job done. Mike

Hi Jenny, Jabolite mountain is looming great and scenery is co.i g along a great.. 👍 I have my layout in loft and for safety I made up a removable floor panel from flooring chipboard and timber framing I place over loft hatch. If you had something like that easier to get that corner of your layout ?
@stephenlittle75345 жыл бұрын
It's called a Trig Point it marks the highest point of the hill. Have a look on an OS MAP. PLEASE PUT A TEMP COVER OVER YOUR LOFT HATCH. WE WANT TO KEEP YOU HEALTHY. The bridge could look like the old railway bridge at Barnstaple have a look. It's all going Great. Well done girl.
