@@ChasingaPlate That would be awesome if you guys could come back to Türkiye and explore the other regions. As a Turk, I don't like the food in Istanbul all that much. There is a little bit of everything, but not always at the highest level, in my opinion. The Champion's League of Turkish cuisine is definitely in Anatolia. Central and South-Eastern Turkish cuisines are just outside of this world. I will be following your adventures, that's for sure! West Turkey is famous for its light healthy foods. Mostly made with olive oil. Fresh, crunchy and light North Turkey is famous for fish. (hamsi-anchovies) East Turkey is famous for meat. rich,heavy,large dishes. South TUrkey is famous for kebabs and meats. Still each city has their own food culture. There are millions of food i even havent tried yet. Did u know Turkey is one of the most Tea consumer Olive oil consumer Bread consumer Cheese consumer yogurt consumer Meanwhile our obesity rate is 32.1 which is lower then expected due to fresh vegetable and good quality oil consumption. The kofta (hmmm Turkish meatballs) absolutely love them especially with onions. Those sodas/ fizzy waters OMG. Plan to hit Amazon to see I can get some. Sheep's head sounds intriguing. Have had goat's head roasted, as well as lamb. Never tried boiled served cold. Sounds like a plan. Love how you introduce us to locals with the lure of great food. Can you explain the Salon? Do you have to pay to use it? Who takes care of their upkeep? Is it a local business co-operatively owned facility for shoppers to use? I was intrigued by it. Looked like a lovely place to rest and relax from walking about. I can’t wait to visit Istanbul and try some of these places.
@ChasingaPlate5 жыл бұрын
Hi Meike Krug, thanks so much for watching and we hope you enjoyed the video! Ahh sorry we should have explained that better- the salon is owned by the döner kebab restaurant so that people who want to have a seat whilst they enjoy their kebab can do so 😀 Hope you get to visit Istanbul one day soon- it's a spectacular city! Hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Cheers, Sheena

The boiled sheep's head was a winner indeed. By the way, he filmed you while you were filming. 😀 Check out the *_Beyoğlu Kelle Söğüş_* KZbin channel's most recent video. Not quite the same production values... Ha. I don't recall if you two had Tacos de Cabeza when in Mexico. Delicious. Usually beef. Animal head meat dishes really are not that scary. Excellent day, guys.

Zafer Gazoz is divied , one part is still named Zafer , the other part is named as "Denizli Gazozu". Both are produced in Denizli City , quite similar in classic Gazozes, but Denizli Gazozu tries some new products as shown in video. In city of Denizli people do like Gazoz , Coke Fanta and Sprite is not that popular.

At the beginning, I was thinking you looked so comfortable and that it was because you had been in Istanbul before. When you said you've been there for 2 months, my jaw dropped! What a treat, to spend that long in a city you appreciate and love! The sheep's head was the standout for me in this one. The onions and parsley offsetting the fat seems to be just an ideal balance. Was the brain included in the mix? That would add an even more buttery quality to the dish. Beautiful video, filled with lovely sights and people.
@ChasingaPlate5 жыл бұрын
Hi MsKestrela! It really has been a treat! When we were here last year we said to each other that we’d try and get back for a longer period so I’m glad we made it happen 😍 Gosh that sheep’s head was brilliant- perfectly balanced- we’ve had it twice since we filmed! Bet you’d love it too. It didn’t have the brain but we do have roast sheep’s brain coming up in another video 😍 thanks for watching and commenting on this one. Hope you enjoyed it- we adored filming it, we met so many friendly and hospitable locals. Have a great week MsKestrela! Cheers, Sheena
