Thanks for another great video. I was a Signalman in the Fylde Coast area and it was good to see the parts inside and around the old signal boxes; of the type I worked for 10 years - the old manual/lever type. (1978-88 until injury). More please.Jack.

lovely footage from the grand days of steam even if it was dirty, oily and of course sooty

Some of my old Signal-boxes were remote, and a Staff Train would drop off when required. Some Drivers would shout - "Do you want a shovel full of fire" *from the days of steam locos) haha. Some of them had no electricity; with Gas lights. It could be dark going to work and dark by the time we got home. The soap always had little teeth marks. And more - but I would never change a thing from those times.

I can remember steam trains. We lived near Wandsworth common & when I was small, my mother used to take me to the common & when a steam train was coming out from Wandsworth station (on it's way to Clapham Junction), my mother would rush me to a small humpback bridge over the tracks that run through the middle of the common, and we'd be covered in steam for a few seconds as the train passed under the bridge. Times were certainly simpler back then.

Great film I lived at Burnham half way between Slough and Maidenhead. The line went past the cul de sac across the road from our house. Great memories of the trains going past. My mother’s uncle was one of the drivers of the King George V.
