We (my husband and I)moved to a small house with three bedrooms, we are semi-retired(my husband has a lot of medical issues). My grown son lives in our other house(about an hour away in the same state). I finally have a craft room/guest room! At the age of 60 i feel I deserve it. I also like to gift my yarn. I also make hats and mittens for the homeless. I do knit sweaters(kind of a new knitter)for myself, family and friends. i love wearing my own sweaters. The hats i make on the Addi but the mittens I hand knit. I think I am going to that site and get that soap! Your smile lights up the screen.

I love your little story. I’m a gardener myself. They say that the sense of smell is the most powerful of the senses when it comes to memories. PS: I have learned so much about yarn from you and I’ve been crocheting over 60 years. Keep placing those orders and show us what you got. It’s extremely helpful my dear! I had enough yarn to open a store, but when one of my daughters were in need (with 4 special needs children no less), I gave it all to her. They’ve all been working on small projects to sell to buy groceries. As I buy new yarn now, I’m very particular about what I want now because of you! Thank you! ❤

Crystal, I believe that honesty is the best policy and have to say that none of those colors are actually my favorite. I am a lover of reds, blues, yellows, greens, pinks and shades there of. Bright colors, like your rainbow colors and I do love harvest colors when they are combined. I want to say that I am so happy that you found something that brings back memories to you. Something that you can go to when you want to think about your past. God bless you and you family and my you all have a very Merry Christmas.

I hear ya about scents. Scent is the closest of the five senses linked to memory. Not even sight comes close. When I smell fresh ground coffee and a gas stove, it reminds me of my Grandma. She taught me to crochet. Best gift, ever! 😊👍🧶

Crystal, I just want to hug you sometimes. You're such a beautiful person inside and out. I love the way they do the tones yarn. It's so hard to tell which colors are going to match when looking online. The tones takes the guessing and hoping you picked the right ones to match out of the equation. Nice! The greneda is my favorite but the persimmon is a very close second. It's a shame its not a softer, scarffable wool. Thank you for sharing your happy memory with us. It's always nice gift when something triggers happy memories. Blessings!

I loved the first tones one you showed us. I’m a sucker for any shade of blue green. At least that’s what color it looked on my phone. I know what you mean about scents that take you back. I once worked at a garden center. I was a consulting rosarian for the American Rose Society for a year. The garden center job didn’t pay much. But after rose season they put me in charge of painting the statuary. Happiest time of my life. Best, worst paying job I ever had. I cried when I got recalled and had to return to the job at the aircraft factory. The sacrifices you make for your family, right?

I vividly remember walking into an enclosed farmers market in Ardmore, PA and instantly recalling the smells of my grandfather’s kitchen In Pebble Beach, CA of 30 years before. When I was in high school I used to volunteer at my local library. When I smell old paper and rubbing alcohol (we used it to get the sticky off the stickers and replace them!) it takes me right back to those days when I would volunteer there and the people and the memories. I loved your memory, it sounds like a really lovely place to have seen. I enjoy your descriptions of yarn because sometimes I'm never sure about it yarn bought online will be scratchy or soft and a lot of times, I can find a video of yours talking about how it feels. If it feels like a red heart super saver or if it feels a little scratchy or it's really soft, it's invaluable to hear those things because it helps me decide what kind of project should be for those yarns so that I know how many to get if any. Nobody wants a scratchy handmade sweater, in my life anyway, and so knowing which yarns are scratchy and which ones are soft is really helpful to know! Thanks Crystal, you have a wonderful holiday!

That was a lovely story! I love the smell of flowers, but I'll never be a good gardener. I haven't yet had the pleasure of working with Brooklyn Tweed yarns. I don't see a lot of crocheters using them, but a lot of knitters love them. I'm not a huge fan of orange, but I think the Persimmon Tones set is my favorite of this batch. They make those colorways by dying the same color on 2 different bases. The Overtones are dyed on a naturally white wool, and the Undertones are dyed on a gray base (I don't know if they get the gray by blending some black wool in with the white or if they use a wool that's naturally a bit darker). It's a cool way to get some color variation. Thanks for sharing!

Before I watch this video, I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE Brooklyn Tweed! I’ve used it quite a few times. I’m actually wearing a cardigan I knitted out of one of their yarns as I type this ❤ Edit to add, for anyone who hasn’t used their yarn before, just to be careful because it breaks super easy! I lived close to Brooklyn Tweed and didn’t even know it existed. I was mostly a crocheter when I lived in Oregon. I don’t feel like the higher end yarn companies think about advertising to crocheters because we have that reputation of using acrylic yarns. I haven’t used acrylic in years and used to buy high end yarns a lot until my husband retired so I don’t buy it as often. Anyway, Brooklyn Tweed is known for being advocates of marginalized people and community minded. I would be honored to knit/crochet with any of their yarn. But the Imbue really calls me name. One of these days!!! Thank Crystal. ⛄️🤶🏻🎄

Wow Crystal, the Tones yarn Granita, is interesting. I think a sweater in one tone and then the other tone for the collar, the sleeves cuff...and maybe a wasteband cuff. I think you can make some really fun combinations with the tones yarn. Thanks for giving us your review of Brooklyn Tweed....It certainly makes me feel more comfortable ordering from them. I like that they package their yarn with care. Your sweater Gary made for you is lovely. Your memories of the smell...I often smell perfumes from my youth. Remember Charlie perfume? I sometimes think I smell it...brings back nice memories also. Perhaps place the soap on your bedroom night table so that it's near you when you get to rest for the night. I keep scented sachet in my crochet drawer, so the yarn smells nice. Our local Ace Hardware sells a company named Greenleaf, which isn packaged scents ...and are very affordable. I like crocheting with yarn that smells nice.
