The first aspect that always amazes me with these old photos is the ''short'' period of time that separates us from ''them''. The difference between the world today and the world as it was one hundred years or even one hundred and forty years (l880's) seems totally unbelievable to me. Such carelessness (craziness) from the construction workers in the 50's would be so unimaginable nowadays! And the milkman pouring the milk off his milk can into the girl's pitcher, ''only'' 110 years ago :-) Congrats again on your research!

United Artists shot was great. Python's "confuse a cat" sketch was fun, about a team of men who literally confuse cats to jolt them from torpor. There was a throwaway line at the end of the sketch regarding other animal confusing services they offered, one being called, "bewilderbeast."

When I see these old photos my primary thought is; what did they do with the rest of their day once their picture was taken for posterity?
@AmazingHistoricalPhotos Жыл бұрын
Not a lot ... it took about 7 hours of exposure time and sitting still to get one photo !!! ...I exaggerate of course, but it was certainly a long ordeal getting a photo taken !

I found it a tantalizing set of historic photos that I had to pause several times for longer contemplation. The one that I found most interesting is the 1957 Las Vegas casino areal view. Look what that flat, stark desert is today! I look forward to more of these.

That's an awesome comment … This is one of the goals of my channel. Indeed, Every time I make these videos they bring me closer to my own grandparents. I actually wear my grandfathers wristwatch while I research the photos.
