The recess in the piston top indicates it is for a diesel engine. So does the full skirt, up to a point. Modern design pistons are not round. The piston is slightly elliptical so that when the engine reaches design operating temperature, the expansion of the aluminum piston makes it become round. They left flashing in a number of areas such as the skirt bottom and the wrist pin bore. These pistons have to be for a low load, low rpm engine such as the single cylinder engines that they use on water pumps, etc. Even at a maximum speed of 1800 rpm, these pistons would probably wear rather rapidly and develop piston slap in whatever engine the pistons were in. And as others have mentioned, the questionable carbon intruded alloy could be brittle.

Start-to-finish… this is exactly how *not* to make a quality piston. Mixed alloys, water dunk, dropped on the floor, triple chucked on three different surfaces, wrist-pin holes machined separately (and not reamed?), sloppy oil holes, burs galore. Was it annealed? Then there’s the basics.. ambient material temp expansion corrections? Micrometer zeroed for non-standard temp? OMG! wth? are you kidding me? I'm retired from Wiseco piston in Mentor . Our pistons were forged from 4032 and 2618 alloys, we had rigid heat treat procedures and tempering formulas. Also proper fixtures and job specific tooling, what most people dont understand is the piston skirt is turned oval (out of round)for a reason! The head and ring groove area is solid and expands evenly as the engine warms up and spreads the pin boss apart there by distorting piston skirt making it rattle (piston slap) oval turning prevents that in the first few moments of engine start up as piston skirt is perfectly round now.

I'm getting a distinct feeling that 'those countries', to generalise, don't care much about quality, safety, innovation, environmental targets, workers' life. Anything is possible, and they make clones very close-looking to the original, but the repair might be short-lived. Skilled people slightly off track. But, hey, they do theirs we do ours. I hope they don't export to western discounters. But one thing pisses me off big-time.... The western nations are leaning out the window right now to halt the effects of their environmental mistakes, but 'those' countries don't seem to have a bar of it. Don't follow, don't know or don't care. They happily pollute on like the West did since the industrial revolution until now more or less. Unfortunately the planet is shared and it don't care where the CO2 (and other stuff) comes from. I wonder if 'these' places have active Governments joining in....?

Is this "Brass- Balls Nagel"? Erik Nagel from Opie and Anthony? JK bro, you are so right about a "bastard alloy", they can't expect quality when the alloys being melted are unknown and mixed with oil and dirt and all other forms of carbon and contaminants.
