The reassembly of the many parts of the gear must be done properly, any missing screws or even the sizes of the screw does matter, using different sizes of screw or mismatch screw, as well as mismatch parts can damage the gearbox.

Hitting the bearings with a hammer is not the best, after a certain amount of time they will vibrate and make noises then they will break, to put the bearings in their place you need collars. A little advice, when you put the bearings of the gears to the assembly always put the oil do not let them run dry with your hands because they get scratched with damage that over time the gearbox breaks. For the rest, great job.

For all the biased comment, I assume this is a common transmission and the disassembly process is second nature. Where time is a also money the team set about their individual tasks until the Reassembler reinstates usable parts to the main carrier and drive. I can also do similar processes on the dated Cassette Tape Drive Mechanisms as many have to be repaired due to Manufactures halted production over a decade ago.
@nathanbond81653 жыл бұрын
The other things that people forget is that it wasn't the boys assembling the transmission they were just the disassembler and cleaners this is skilled technicians older skilled mechanics are the ones that actually reassemble the transmission as with most heavy equipment shops they probably have a fleet contract and they service this particular transmission that's probably in all of their trucks they probably disassemble and reassemble thousands of these in a year they probably know each part by just touch and could probably assemble one of these blindfolded that's the part of the video that people Miss it's obvious to me the level of confidence and how they knew exactly where everything went that they are highly skilled mechanics the only difference between them and your average Kenworth shop is that they're using hand tools and if you go to a fleet shop or dealer like Kenworth their mechanics have fancy air tools and all kinds of calibrated equipment from the manufacturer at the end of the day commercial manual transmissions are some of the most heavy-duty pieces of equipment ever made and and I admit to the Layman them slamming the gear assembly against a block looks brutish and like it's going to break it but for God's sake these gears are made of T1 Steel you're not going to break anything by merely hitting it against a concrete block now if you treated an automatic transmission in a car that way yeah you would f up a lot of parts but this is a heavy duty semi tractor-trailer transmission manual gearbox transmission that uses T1 steel carbon hardened steel parts in Gears you're not hurting anything by hitting it against a piece of metal

I was very badly impressed by the clumsy way this box with so many pieces was dismantled. Looks like it's junk going to waste. I wouldn't do it that way. I would disassemble calmly and carefully and would take pictures, make drawings and schematics, and mark all the pieces so I don't assemble wrongly or forget pieces on the outside. In my mind such a service has to be done with calm and whim, but... each one works in their own way.
@autodidact71273 жыл бұрын
This is a manual trans. This person is an expert. They don't have money to be wasting time making schematics for things they understand fully. You're discounting their experience. The key here is being frugal with the resources they have and getting the job done. The economics of their life don't support replacing everything. Working with inadequate tools and still getting the job done is commendable. They're doing good work.
@nathanbond81653 жыл бұрын
I think one thing that you're missing is you'll notice that when they reassemble the transmission it was not the boys doing it it was much older skilled mechanics this is obviously a fleet truck and they probably disassemble and rebuild those Transmissions hundreds of times a month they know every part by touch and exactly where each part goes if you've ever worked on fleet vehicles you get to know intimately every single part of the vehicle where it goes and you could put it together in your sleep basically
