I started my DIY car journey a long time ago when Maguire’s was the top tier in waxes and shampoos. Then about 10 years ago, Chemical Guys started their video training/marketing series on You Tube. I bought into what they were selling. A good foundational understanding of the difference between a compound and polish, the 2 bucket wash method with dirt traps, etc. How pad choice combined with compounds or polish made a difference, etc. Then Pan came along with his chemists viewpoint and decades long pro detailer experience (along with Todd at Esoteric). Now, competing voices opened my awareness to better products. I learned about other top tier brands such as; Rupes, P&S, Car Pro, etc. The journey continues. Thank you Pan. I respect your opinions, your approach and video story telling and teaching of skills. Keep up your great work! And, keep it tight!

Amen to this Brian! This is exactly my experience. Chemical Guys opened my world to what good detailing really is. They were a “gateway drug” for me. Still learning but honestly thankful for them, as without them I never would have started researching ceramic coatings or probably even found this channel. I don’t buy much from them anymore (I still like VRP and Silk Shine), but would happily buy the guys a drink as a thanks for opening up my approach, technique, and skill.

I haven't used Mr. Pink. However, I have used Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss and it is awesome. I use it with my snow foam cannon and it gives great results. Invisible Glass - no. I don't recommend; it tends to streak. I prefer Rain-X. I also recommend Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel. It's not that expensive and it lasts for about a month and looks great. I always recommend applying it with an applicator and using gloves to protect yourself! One never knows what is in these chemicals, or what their long lasting effects may have, if they get on your skin. Leather Honey: I've heard of it but I haven't used it. I use Lexol Leather Conditioner and Leather Cleaner - It's great. My thoughts about fabric cleaner for car mats. Why waste money? I take the carpeted floor mats to the carwash. First spray them with Simple Green and then use the power washer to clean them. They come out perfect.

As a long time fan of Pan the Organizer, the only product in this line up that I use is the Invisible Glass cleaner. All the other car detail products I use have come recommended by Pan. I’ve done some testing myself and have some favorites that I will continue to purchase across a variety of brands (TW, Griot’s, P&S, McKee’s 37, Meguiars). And a side note, I’m just a DIY weekend warrior and not a professional detailer.

I think Mr Pan U R overestimating the number of people interested in taking care of their cars paint and interior properly. I think it's more like one out of 10,000. I think most people don't know, or don't care to do it right. My job has me out in neighborhoods 8 hours a day 5 days a week and the number of people that I see taking care of their own cars or hiring mobile detailers very miniscule. I would say I see more people lined up at the automatic car wash, at one time is greater than the number of people I see taking care of their cars properly in one year. And that's okay, it's their car. But for me, I'm not going to be taking Amazon's advice on about anything.

I think alot of the appeal for chemical guys is the price point for a decent product, especially for those who aren’t too serious about detailing, the more serious you get about detailing and what products go on your car the more willing you’d be to spend the 3-6$ extra on a very very good product, but majority of people will be more than happy with what chemical guys offer

One thing that gets used to boost or “steal” that number one/best seller spot is the category of each product. For example, the quick detailer you mentioned from Mcguiar’s, it’s in its own category of, “Waxes by Mcguiar’s”. Since it’s in such a *very* specific “category”, it can easily have the “Best Seller” title. Whereas if there’s a dozen of quick detailers categorized in “automotive” or “detailing”, they would be competing against each other and would be a better scale to see which is actually the best seller. I’ve seen products in categories they don’t even belong in have the “best seller” title. I can’t bring one to mind at the moment, but I’ll give a little exaggerated example. It’s like seeing a body lotion categorized as a polishing/compound and because lotion is probably selling more units than any polish/compound, it can steal the “best seller” title from right under actual polishes/compounds. Which will also boost its views and clicks, which in turn will boost sales. So the seller will mark their product in an entirely different category that it can easily win in, just to get the number one spot to boost their views. I would almost compare it to Google’s SEO. But instead of “optimizing”, they are tricking the algorithms. If they were categorized appropriately, I think we might see some (not all) different results as to who are the “best sellers”. Sorry for the long post, maybe a bit of a rant. 😅

That's not how it was designed to be used, and this is from Dave, the chemist that formulates the P&S products. But if it works for you, that's totally fine. I use the CG Waterless Wash only when I want a quick cleaning on my car when it's lightly dusty or when I'm doing headlight restoration. It does the job. That's why CG is popular because they make products that "does the job" but of coarse as you mention too many stuff, they should just focus on a few things. And ppl who buys and use only their stuff thinks they're professional detailers. Not knocking CG cuz they have some good stuff but their is better quality products elsewhere. As I mentioned I use some of their stuff so it's good when you don't want to have much of a guess work.

New to channel but have been detailing for a few decades-here’s my two cents. Invisible Glass is much better than windex and other houehold cleaners also have the reach tool, I barely wet the pad. I saw recent vids about Cerakote having issues; use Meguires wheel cleaner (diluted) then regular wash soap to clean wheels and tires. Also like Meg’s detail interior cleaner which does not leave any residue; finally like Meg’s wash with my HarbFreight cannon. Tires get just about any silicone based protectant which I apply in the sun-no wiping heat makes it shine well. Thanks again Pan for the reviews!!

Seeing the Amazon TOP SELLERS list shows to me that the consumer is very much swayed by todays styled advertising on KZbin, Facebook etc etc .. Price / Value for money is a the major swayer for the average consumer... You Pan, definitely steer your watchers to the BEST performing products but all of us can't necessarily afford these products... Here in Australia a lot of the products you show are hard to find locally or if they are available, they have an insanely expensive price compared to the US$ pricing.... I haven’t tried the USATOOLS microfibers, but I did order a few sets from the Rag Company for the first time before doing the coating on my wife’s SUV. I was fairly new to detailing before (washed my car once a week but always with the standard stuff available at the auto parts store). Anyway, I’ve been shocked at how much nicer the Rag Company towels are than those I can get at Costco or the local store. They’ve made a customer for life in me. As for Chemical Guys, I have a few bottles of their stuff I’m still using up. I really do like the VRP and Silk Shine products, from the way they apply to the smell. I’ve moved away from using most everything else. I will say that in a pinch, their stuff works fairly well. I was detailing a car to sell it and ran out of APC. All the “good brands” were a week or two out to receive. I popped by Walmart and got the Chemical Guys stuff and it met the need just fine.

One of the two best snow foams to actually do the best job at pre-cleaning the surface: bit.ly/3U8fVwz amzn.to/3IPN4sx That being said, after the snow foam step, you still have to follow up with the hand wash with a good car shampoo to get 100% clean results. The pre-wash is simply there to remove most of the loose grit, dirt and grime and start softening up the traffic film, before the contact wash.

Pan, I have two everyday drivers. A SUV and Ford 150 but I also have a new convertible sports car with PPF and ceramic that only comes out of the garage when the weather is good and roads are dry. Is there one foam and shampoo that I can use for all three cars? Don't care about price or smell.
@PanTheOrganizer10 ай бұрын
This is the best shampoo you can use: bit.ly/49QY4lB That's meant for ceramic coatings, PPF or non protected vehicles. If you other cars have a regular wax or sealant, this would be the more general soap for all three vehicles: amzn.to/46Cuqh4

The Adam's Iron Remover isn't very effective. I haven't tested the updated formula, but the original wasn't great. My favourite iron remover is still the classic CarPro IronX. Here: amzn.to/3wIdFVn

I always wonder about the Amazon "top" products. Thanks, Pan, for this video discussing these popular Amazon products vs your recommendations. Great comparisons. For the towels: from the description, it looks like they are claimed to be 300 GSM, and a 80/20 polyester and polyamide blend.

Leather Honey is excellent but it’s for raw leathers. I would never use Leather Honey on a car. More for like leather bags/clothing and things like that.

That's why this conversation was a fun one, as it proves that it's not because a product gets a "top seller" tag that it means it's actually the best in its category.

This was a good video, and in a way a walk down memory lane. Ever since I started watching Pan he has basically encouraged me to pay attention to detailing and washing my car and to up my car game. As a result, I use many of The prosumer items that are available to us weekend warriors. I am not a pro but a weekend warrior that appreciates nice gloss and finish If it weren’t for Pan the organizer and guys like Matt Moreman from obsessed garage, I would still be using chemical guys. My cars have benefited from detailing and have sold for significantly more because of my detailing game. Love you Pan

What would you use to remove denim stains and protect leather from getting denim stains on leather!
@PanTheOrganizer4 ай бұрын
You have to use dedicated leather cleaners to get the surface clean (sometimes a few cleaning rounds are needed, for deeper stains) with a good leather brush. And then you apply a leather coating on top, to make future cleaning easier, and to help prevent dye transfer and friction damage. See my latest leather care tutorial here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGe1aaWmqLWfd8Usi=aTGhSYbbdA-yglQg

please help .. I live in an apartment complex with access to water. I purchased a nice hose and nozzle along with a garden hose foam gun. My car is new, 2024, no treatment of any kind has been put on to the paint yet.. for a weekly wash with the tools I have available what car soap would you recommend to use? I want to effectively clean the car but not have something too harsh and also something I can use on a weekly basis. eventually I will have some type of coating put on the vehicle but until that happens.. I'm not sure which shampoo to use. Also I have an expensive all natural boar hair brush that I want to use on the car simply because I bought it, but not if it's going to scratch the paint.. actually I don't think the brush would scratch the paint but maybe it would be more likely to scratch because it doesn't hold as much dirt as a microfiber mit? What are your thoughts on that as well.. Thank you!
@JeffSmith-eq3kc9 ай бұрын
My recommendation to start would be find a company and buy the basics. Personally if I were starting id use DIY Detail and I'd buy Incredible Suds, Rinseless Wash and All Clean. That's covers interior and exterior to start. Don't use a brush on the paint. Wheels, yes go to town. Just buy some quality microfiber towels or a wash mit. The only other thing I'd recommend to start is a drying towel. Really helps! From there you can build out with other brands but staying with one to start is a good idea.
@DaKrEm2.69 ай бұрын
@@JeffSmith-eq3kc I've looked at DIY products and agree with you, I will likely purchase some incredible suds and see how that works for me. Thanks for the reply.

I never had experience with Adam's iron remover before this past summer, or any iron remover for that matter, but i will say it reacted within 4 or 5 minutes, and when i went to clay afterwards with my AM details clay bar and chemical guys clay lube, i was getting very little off. So maybe they've improved the formulation quite a bit. But next time I'm going to use iron x just for the sake of trying something new.

After washing microfiber towels can I use the on painted surfaces if they were used on tires and wheels? or should I have dedicated towels for tires and wheels and others for painted surfaces only? Also, what are your thoughts on "Pro Elite" products that are sold at Auto Zone or Advance Auto parts?
@PanTheOrganizer10 ай бұрын
I prefer to use separate towels for different tasks. Especially glass towel, only use those on glass. I made a video on which towels I like for each use here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jICmqmWibceXo5Ysi=jAfKJNAMzPYAKJL3
