This is insane. Privacy is the least concerning aspect of this. Rural areas like mine would be hit hard with overcharges because internet is metered mostly out here. We must tightly control how much internet we use etc. If this starts to leak that away, they're costing us money and our ability to work from home!

Thank you everyone for watching. Hope this video helps you out. This feature is being rolling out in the US now. So if you don't see it now be on the look out for it.

I gather this only works for those with doorbell and so forth ?! BTW, thank you, that was very clear information. I have friends and family that needed this.

So, I wonder if they plan on paying us for the internet they give away?
@JRobert1111113 жыл бұрын
Comcast has this same crap on their Xfinity internet with a "guest network". You can turn it off as well. Thankfully a year ago I was fortunate enough to get G. Fiber for my internet. No games or gimmicks with them. As for Amazon devices, I don't have any, but great information to know!

This brings up an interesting question...say you have old 1st/2nd gen echo dots...they don't support sidewalk. But if you add a new echo dot before June 8th 2021 it will show up under "account setting" and you can either disable or enable it...but after June 8th if you add a new echo dot you will not be able to opt-out of Sidewalk.

When I go into "Account Setting"...I only have "Recognized voices", "Guest Connect", "Voice Purchasing", and "Workouts"...there's NO "Amazon Sidewalk" listed...? I do have the latest version of the Amazon Alexa app which is now at: 2.2403931.0 as of May 16, 2021

Could this be why my 3 ring cameras and over 10 older blink XT cameras are no longer working for the last few months? They might want to replace them so they can get my cameras in the system? Hmmm, I got some thinking to do. This is kinda creepy.

I have a ring and fire stick but no Alexa how do I opt out?

Thanks for the heads up. I’m going to leave it on for now, for the convenience. I live in a suburb with very little traffic on my street. I might feel differently if I was in a busier area. That convenience factor is a big double edged sword. 😬

I'll turn it on as soon as they pay $100 a month for my wifi plus $100 a month for scamming me.

dose this effect strangers that pull up in front of your house if you have a password on your wifi? or is that where hackers come in to play?

Salutations 🙋♀️🙏🕊️💜🌈✨✝️🔥🌍 Years ago I shared. A bit ago neighbor offered share, excellent signal till I paid him $30. then he moved the box, refund of $25, not happy was he, stole my haircutting scissors, pills, gummies...

What an ill-informed video. Sidewalk does not use Bluetooth nor wifi, it uses an entirely different radio and protocol. And there is no way for a hacker to bridge that signal to your home wifi. It is scaremongering crap like this that will defeat what could be a terrific, useful, community-minded network tool. The amount of bandwidth sidewalk uses is very small and very limited and its total usage is throttled if it exceeds certain bandwidth usage parameters. Another aspect of sidewalk that you completely missed is that its range is not measured in 10s of feet like Bluetooth, its range is closer to a mile and a half. So hopefully there will be enough people who ignore the fear-mongering and enable sidewalk on their devices to ensure the success of this useful concept. BTW, all new Amazon devices come with sidewalk disabled and you must opt-in, only existing devices are auto opt-in. You failed to mention that, or is that another thing you didn't bother to research. Do the internet a favor and take this video down. This review has adversely affected my opinion of all your reviews. Would you say you did more or less research on this as you do on a wifi camera?

Thank you for doing a better job explaining Amazon Sidewalk than this fear-mongering video. I am NOT disabling any of my devices and am looking forward to the benefits of participation.

as soon as they pay my bill they can use it, in the meantime they can go f themselves and how many people don't know about this that would not appreciate this? my brother just tossed his ring in the trash and quit his subscription. go find your own dog, it's probably crapping on my lawn.
