One thing with the coolant reuse is to check the acidity,these engines have dissimilar metals,causeing corrosion on aluminum.The latest coolants are best to use,some go as high as 250 k before flush required.I vac and fill cooling system,kits are inexpensive and work really well,does leak test for you if it don t vac down,Most manufacturers today demand vac fill to remove all air pockets in system.

Perfect timing for this video. I just got a good deal on a radiator for the ih, and was trying to decide what transmission cooler to get. Easy decision now, ill go with the same amazon cooler you used. Glad to see the heater working so well. I think i saw you put a valve in line so you can shut off coolant flow to the heater core in the summer. Is that right?

I forgot to mention it, but I did not install the shut off valve, I want to see how it is with just the restrictor. If the heater is radiating too much heat with the fan off I will install the shutoff valve, I bought a 4 port one so that coolant will flow through the water pump heater ports even if shut off to the cab. Trying to keep it as simple as possible, I will mention it in the next video. The Amazon trans cooler has worked great for me, it should work fine on the IH

@rust_hoarder_garage thanks. That answers the other question I had, whether or not a bypass was required if a shut-off was used.

That is one of those things that is debated, some say you can just block off the ports and not have flow between the heater ports. others say you must always have flow. Looking at the LS cooling diagram I think it is safer to have a working bypass and keep the flow. Jus my opinion, I have not tested with the ports blocked, but I doubt I will as I always run a heater.
