You have sound knowledge about the ambassador car. Thank you for sharing the information. I like this vehicle, because it is less prone to accident rather than new gen vehicles, can be taken in ghat roads due to high ground clearance, large dicky space and can accomodate 7-8 persons (but law does not allow this overloading) in a contingency which modern middle segment cars could not offer. Drawbacks- easily rusting body, no modern features such as ABS,EDB, infotainment, navigation, sun roofetc, less engine power, engine sound more and hence enters cabin, low power headlights, non-availabilty of spares etc. If these are overcome Ambassador is the most reliable vehicles who cares for utility as well as safety with off road riding which no modern middle segment cars can offer.

The original engine that came with the car is best for Mark I to III. Though difficult to maintain and find parts, it gives originality, is smooth and easier to drive. For later cars, Isuzu engine and transmission is better. Also, since Ambassador (Morris Oxford) was originally designed as a petrol car, all other modifications are essentially add ons and strain the car in some way or other. (Engine mounting, chassis, differential). So better to use petrol engine over diesel

@@vasudevkrishnan5476 Kerala rural roads the front suspension of the vehicle not fit.The padmini is good for highways and metro city roads only.If the vehicle suddely fallen to a kerala pathholes defnitely premier front suspension arms bent and suspension will totally damaged.It is not happening in the case of Amby.It can be easily overhauled by a local ordinary mechanic but premier suspension overhauled by a trained technician only.But transmission of Premier good and long lasting....You have good driving pleasure for Premier in highways.
