At the first day of trial you see Amber looking all over the place, rarely focusing for more than 1-2 seconds, which is apparently quite typical of her. I heard from The Behavioural Arts here on KZbin that she might have been told by her lawyers to try to focus on whoever is talking, as she would otherwise appear uninterested. Of course just a guess, but it could also be the reason she's staring in this manner. It's not natural to her. The fact that she's smiling is a whole other matter, that is disturbing.

Personally, I think for a few minutes, she completely forgot the cameras were in that room. The stare down and smirking is incredibly telling, not the way a Victim usually acts that's for sure.
