The fact that Amber, in her testimony, acted exactly like how Dr. Curry described her disorder is absolutely insane.

Identifying a mental illness in someone and then witnessing symptoms of that mental illness in the person’s subsequent behavior-er, that’s sort of a confirmation of the diagnosis. But I take your meaning. Amber’s behavior did seem to validate Dr. Curry’s professional conclusions, in real time.

Dr. Curry is an amazing forensic psychologist! I love how she explains everything so well. I am from The Netherlands so there are a couple of things I don't understand. Maybe someone here can explain it to me. Why did Amber Heard accept to be evaluated by a forensic psychologist hired by Johnny Depps law team? Could she also refuse to participate in this psychological examination? And another question: is this diagnoses possibly positive for her, in terms of 'having a reason' for her behavior if she would lose the case?
@didlidu70472 жыл бұрын
She couldn't refuse the evaluation because she claimed to have ptsd from the violence in the relationship with depp so depps attorney had the right to test her.

Amber Heard has an extraordinary arrogance, she assumes that her behaviour is so convincing that people even professionals will have no choice but to agree with her. That seems to be a very common theme with histrionic women. It's also the Dunning Kruger effect. Amber isn't very clever.

Why is AH taking notes?😂😂 As a psychology student(one of the best students in the department) this is quite odd and I feel like is a coping mechanism for her. I feel like AH can't stand looking and listening to this psychologist and the cherry on top is what she is saying, that is something AH is hating every second of. For her to write maybe makes her feel like she's in control.

I'm pretty sure it's a strategic tactic. Because the trial is broadcasted you will notice both amber and johnny will Doodle during hard parts of the trial to try and disengage and therefore suppress any reactions and facial expressions that will no doubt cause speculations, not only from the viewers and more importantly the jury. Their legal team would have suggested it.

@@hiyorioh Exactly. And I can tell you without knowing you that a personality disorder does not make you inherently bad or good. It’s simply a label to represent a cluster of symptoms that you may relate to. At the end of the day you are a human and that’s all everybody is, which makes us similar, but we are all having individual experiences and this is what people have trouble accepting because they can’t relate to it. You will most likely come across many people who are unaware or uneducated and don’t understand the impact their words have. Idunno about all of that. I do assume she likely is more so inside - although we're judging off of her doing her job. I also think there's an intense authenticity that she displays that suggests she's probably straight-up elsewhere, and hopefully a genuine person as a result (of course it's possible to be genuine and mean as hell - and I wouldn't assume she is, but don't know either way). I liked her, but I'm a therapist and in the forensic field - so I'm biased. Outwardly, Amber Heard is pretty fine. And was stunning when she was younger. I would say that the psychologist rivals her enough to make it hard to say either way, IMO.

@@abeguy7981 I’m sorry about your trauma (sincerely). As a physician I can say that it’s very challenging when a patient questions your expertise when you’re trying to help them. Yours may not have reacted well but when you’re choosing to seek help, medical practitioners are human beings and if you go in with an attitude that demeans their training, given that that’s their field of expertise and it’s the service that they’re able to offer you, it can be received as an insult or as a perception that you don’t respect them or want their help. I applaud you for seeking help. If you’re still needing it you might try going in with an open mind because I know that therapy has helped many many others, and you have nothing to lose. Peace.

The psychologist actually made me feel bad for Amber. I’ve seen snippets of the case and the part I caught live is when they had a forensic specialist reviewing all the photos she submitted of bruises that she altered through apps to appear worse with contrast. I was like wow she is nothing but a liar. If it was real consistent abuse like she claims she would have no need to alter images. This psychologist suggests that Amber is mentally ill. Still no excuse for her ruining her partner’s life but she is clearly struggling in her own way and it’s wreaking havoc on the people close to her. Like if she was mentally healthy maybe this would have never happened.
@derthsyndi941111 ай бұрын
Anyone who would hurt others have something wrong with them mentally. No one completely sane would do that. Should they be tested and helped? Yes. Does it excuse anything? No. Mental problems do not completely absolve you from your sins, it just helps explain why you would do that. Should you feel sorry for someone struggling with these issues? Yes. Should you forgive and forget? Absolutely not. You don’t get to abuse someone else and call yourself a victim because of your own mental state. It’s on that person to get the help they need and not take it out on someone else. If we acted like mental issues were enough to define innocence, no one would be guilty of anything. Everyone has some sort of trauma they could blame for their actions. Where should the line be drawn? You are absolutely right, if she was mentally healthy this wouldn’t have happened. It also wouldn’t have happened if she took some responsibility for her own mental state and got help rather than aggravate the situation and let it get out of control. That’s on her.
@Itsnotme73216 күн бұрын
@@derthsyndi9411 I agree with you but it has me thinking, amber was seeing a therapist......why did the therapist not notice her problems, and if they did why were they not being treated. Don't get me wrong mental health can be hard to treat and can take a long time but if being treated correctly their mental health should be getting better but amber's wasn't. It seems it was getting worse. Went from simply fighting and accusing Johnny to cutting off his finger and creating fake scenarios of physical mental and sexual abuse, to having the confidence of telling the world about these alleged claims when she knew she was wrong. Creating fake bruises and fake images to make Johnny look bad. She quite definitely has a mental issue why were the therapists quiet. As you say tho it excuses nothing. All this caused Johnny to have physical and mental health issues from amber. And it's not fair to Johnny high how much he dealt with

@srkbear122 күн бұрын
As a clinical professor of medicine (not psychology), I can confidently state that your assessment is false. False to the “Not Even Wrong” degree, in that you aren’t even using scientific terms properly, nor are you presenting a true equivalence-clinical psychology is a true scientific discipline and endeavor that exposes itself willingly to scientific inquiry and peer review, while astrology is absent of any such rigor (nor does it attempt to pursue it). Pseudoscience by definition does not have evidence, hasn’t been validated, and is typically unfalsifiable. Astrology meets this definition. Clinical psychology, on the contrary, has a rich history of evidence brought by rigorous applications of the scientific method, and the instruments Dr. Curry used to evaluate Ms. Heard have been extensively validated (statistically so) with equal rigor. Statistical validation is the foundation upon which the scientific method rests-it can guide us towards more in depth query, but it cannot be disregarded. You may disagree with the principles of clinical psychology for whatever reason (if you understand it correctly and aren’t confusing it with psychoanalysis), but you aren’t correct in calling it a pseudoscience. But I will say that your comment, in the absence of any cogent argument to support it, is highly suggestive of someone who is either too repressed or guarded to subject oneself to psychological assessment, or has been told something by psychologists that they didn’t want to hear. Which makes it a sort of an amusing and rather piteous example of ironic self-QED. If you’d like to provide a legitimate argument for why you believe Dr. Curry’s assessment is unreliable, then that’s absolutely fair! Otherwise, thanks for stopping by…
