People don't understand that getting your hair cut curly is NOT FOR YOU if you ever ever intend on wearing your hair straight or blown out. Because it will look a mess. Straight hair looks good with clean, symmetrical lines. Since curly cuts randomly clip pieces off asymmetrically depending on how your curls are sitting THAT DAY, it won't translate well to straight hair.

Really important to know that curly cuts are for women who only wear their hair curly. If you are gonna straighten your hair it will definitely be uneven. You can still get layers cut into your hair but not do a curly cut. Just tell your stylist you wear your hair both straight and curly. The type of layers you want (square, round or long) and some face framing .

The thing about curly cuts is that is is meant for people that will always be wearing their hair curly and unfortunately depends on the curl pattern/tightness at the time of the cut. If you want your hair to look good straight you need to get a straight cut and then just spend more time styling when curly. Would you ever consider moving somewhere that has more curly hair care available? Like even the UK?
@AmberAnsah2 жыл бұрын
Yes so true, I personally like to wear my hair curly but I flat iron my hair every once in a while. I just want my hair to look good as well when it's straightened. I would most definitely not move out of my country just so I can go to a curly hair salon more often 😂
@TheTjoy9102 жыл бұрын
I feel like it's impossible to get a thorough cut when you get curly cuts because you can never trim all of your hair each time you want to trim it for health because there are 100 layers. Which can end up being really damaging in the end because when you get splits they'll just keep splitting because you cant cut all of the layers each time in a curly state. I never straighten my hair but I won't get curly cuts because it ends up looking cute in the beginning and later you realize (at least in my experience) the hair ends up being a hot uneven mess and you have to cut a lot to get the health back. I've had to end up doing a mini big chop after every curly cut I've gotten before I finally realized it wasn't good for my hair.
@AshPatch072 жыл бұрын
That’s not necessarily true, it definitely depends on how well your hair stylist cuts curly hair in general I’ve had two different hair stylists that cut my hair while it was curly and when I straightened my hair it always came out perfect

THAT is exactly what happened to me when I had layered cut from a "curly hair stylist". They cut random "curls" at different heights supposedly to help with the curl pattern. At first it looks ok, but with time, it RUINED my hair and I had to cut almost 14 inches to fix it. You end up with split ends in the different hair layers because they are random layers and not even ones. So the same hair cannot be cut again the next time (because where do the layers end and start?) so it splits, breaks, and then your whole head ends up with split ends. I wish someone had shown me, told me NEVER TO LET ANYONE do that to my head! It took over 8 years to regrow, I've been miserable...Now, I ask for straight across same length in the back, with long layers to frame the face. That's it. I style the hair differently if I get bored with the cut, it is basically the only cut that lets my hair thrive.

your stylist did a great job making the size uniform taking into account the different textures you have when your hair is in its natural state. I always use my curly so I prefer a dry cut because each curl shrinks to a different size, but before you cut it she should have explained that when it was straightened it would be completely unformatted so you could have made a more conscious choice about what you prefer 😥 desculpa pelo inglês kkkkk ainda estou aprendendo

I think the issue with cutting on straight hair is that curly hair shrinks a lot (and we typically have different curl types throughout our head) so its impossible to tell how the cut will look once its back to curly. Curly cuts are good if you wear you hair curly most of the time; straight cuts are better if you prefer to wear your hair straight. I wear my hair curly 99% of the time so it doesnt make sense for me to straighten my hair just to cut it, when my stylist can shape my dry curly hair better
@serena_bee2 жыл бұрын

I make videos about this all the time, I commented on the video of her cutting your hair saying it would come out like this. You never cut curly hair wet only dry and straight. Curly hair swells when it’s WET and Straight hair swells when it’s DRY. When your hair swells it’s uneven if your hair is curly. You cut naturally STRAIGHT hair WET to get it as even as possible and CURLY hair when DRY & STRAIGHT as possible. The average person has 100,000 follicles on the scalp, each follicle has 1-4 strands . You have about 100k-400k strands on your head. Cutting your hairs wet was the wrong move in my professional opinion as a Cosmetologist for 16 years.
@annoyedbyyourface2 жыл бұрын
You should also note that you only cut curly hair straight if the person plans to keep the hair straight. If they keep it curly majority of the time, never cut it while it's straight.

@@annoyedbyyourface rather you plan to wear your hair straight or not having your hair cut uneven like this leads to major mechanical damage. Tangling, breakage and more. It can be even for both, but it takes a lot of practice and you have to be willing to be tedious, which most stylists are not when it comes to curly cuts. They want to meet your immediate need and get you in and out.

It is possible for hair to be even both straight and natural, but if you have multiple textures and porosities desiring 100% perfectly even hair may not be a realistic possibility, but it’s still possible to have as close to even hair in both states. This is how my hair is and I’m totally fine with it, especially since I do home trims and cuts.

From the US, Hey Amber proud of you girl. As a hair stylist since 1969, you did really well because I thought you f--ked up too, but you put it together and saved yourself some money in the process. FYI, next time you ask for layers at a salon, the easier thing to do is flat iron your hair straight as a stick and ask for a dry cut, because you will immediately see how it looks while its straight. You have more hair than the average person, so it'll be easier for them to navigate when it's flattened. P.S. Girl you know it'll grow back in no time.✂✂❤❤

Hello Ms Amber, 👋 I appreciate you sharing this video so much because, Belgium is not the only place where professional hair stylists are hard to find to maintain long natural curly locks. But that's not to say that they aren't good stylists, but they are in business and their training requires licensing too. I would just say it's complicated like life. I will share my opinion as a non professional hair stylists, using new and different hair products effects and changes how hair styles react and look too. Olyplex is a good product, but more on the hair repair treatments for professional hair stylists I think 🤔. I think you did a good trim, can't wait to see how it looks in wash state. I stopped going to a professional stylists after eight years of consistent appointments, looking back 20 20 is hind site, but I knew my stylists was sincerely doing her best. I changed with my life changes. The hair industry changed slower for curly hair wash and go needs. Now, I'm back to naturally shorter almost shoulder length because I trim my ends and my protective style has been caps. I've never worn wigs before, but caps and 👒 hats have helped me to maintain and protect my natural hair. I started using do it yourself hair oil, taking also plant based supplements , watching KZbin hair videos to maybe get hair growth and stay healthy. Good luck with your future business goals and hair journey. Being a mom is a blessing , your daughter is your twin 💗 💓

I usually put my hair in twists and then measure it in rows that help keep it even so I don't get lopsided. After I do a wash and go, I might dust the ends if some hang a lil too low.

This has given me the biggest motivation to “trim” my hair

I cut my hair when straightened. I usually do smaller sections. I’ll do a somewhat thicker layer across the back of my hair as a base line. Then I’ll proceed to do smaller sections while matching them to that base layer. When I get to the crown I start working on the sides of my head. I’ll assess how much needs to be cut off if there are any thinner ends & I’ll cut off that amount. Then I just match the other side. Then I move on to my bangs/face framing layers to do whatever I feel like doing there & then blend it into the rest of the cut. At that point everything is even so I start doing layers but I never go back into that base layer in the back of my head (unless it needs some finishing touches to make it completely even). I do high & low layers where I basically trim the layers at a higher angle then a lower angle. I know it sounds like a lot but I’ve gotten used to that method & it works so great for me. You just gotta learn the right hand placements & if you want your hair to be even, you can’t pull it in a different direction than it naturally lays. It’s tough but when you do that it’s always gonna be at an angle when you let go. Most people pull the hair in the back forward but you will end up with an extreme U or V shaped cut. So if yours not going for that you gotta cut it how it naturally lays to the best of your ability.

Wow! Sorry that happened to you. That’s not normal; it’s a bad cut by the stylist. My daughter got hers cut on blown out hair. Layers were cut in at the bottom and it looks really good both in straight and curly styles. Much success.❤️

I definitely thought it was a clickbait 😩🤧 They really messed up your hair 😭, this is why I’m so scared to have anyone else handle my hair.

It’s always best to blow dry and flat iron curly hair before getting a haircut. This helps remove all of the damage and ensure it’s even. Curls and texture can easily hide breakage, split ends and damage. It’s like camouflage. You want to see what your hair really looks like.
