My hair grew the most after I had given birth because I had no time to mess with it. I would wash it like once a month or even 6 weeks and just put it in cornrows and leave them until I had time to wash it again! It is so true that just leaving you hair alone really will do wonders for length retention. For years I thought that my hair would never grow past shoulder length even though I kept it fairly heathy and well maintained. Then quarantine came and I got really lazy and just left my hair alone for like 3 months. I would wash it once a week (or every other week) and other than that I just put it in couple braids or a bun and ignored it. Lo and behold, when I finally decided to do something with my hair again I had noticeable growth. So I decided to continue by only styling my hair once or twice a month and leaving it in braids the rest of the time. A year later and my hair is longer than it's ever been. Giving your hair a rest from constant manipulation really will help you add length.
@hprivate91143 жыл бұрын
I agree with this but tbh even when i was younger and my hair was thick thick- it still never grew past my chest and its still like that it’ll grow in volume but never length 😭 and i love long hair so much its sad really
@amira63003 жыл бұрын
how long would u leave it in a bun
@rockpaperskizzers3 жыл бұрын
@@amira6300 I would usually leave it in for about 3 days. I wear my bun pretty high on my head and not too tight so I could sleep in it comfortably. When it started to look messy or loose, I'd take it down, tidy it up, and put it back up for another few days. The point for me was to avoid manipulation as much as possible.

What helped me grow my hair was to stop cutting it. No cuts or trims for 5 years . Sure there were some split ends but they didn't exactly got any worse. I just stopped cutting it. I used simple lightweight products, and washed once a week. Eventually my hair reached my bra line (I have extremely fine hair, so gravity really didnt help much with the growth). The 10 years prior to letting go of the scissors, my hair never grew past my shoulders. I was frustrated. But yeah, I was simply cutting all my growth. Nowadays i cut whatever I find too damaged (search and destroy). I learned to cut my own hair too and recently cut layers but I cant wait to not cut it again for years and grow it once again. Im using olaplex and my hair feels so much stronger so that's all I need for length retention!

I have tried everything.. the only thing working for me right now is water rinsing my hipo hair every 2-3 days, oiling my scalp with castor oil, moisturise with the Garnier 3in1 aloe and coconut hair mask then sealing with blue magic grease; this is my new routine. I have been on this journey for 3 years and found out the hard way that the majority of leave-ins dried out my hair. Too much raw aloe dried out my hair. Peppermint oil thins out my hair. Fenugreek gave me excessive shedding. I cannot have anything in my hair that I can smell as it effects my hair. My point is NOT everything will work. My current routine is so simple and is working very well so far.....I wash my hair with an African black soap bar once a week and it's the only thing that doesn't leave my hair feeling stripped. ACV leaves my hair feeling like straw also. I love my hair journey though....its become healthier since this routine and my moisture level has improved....it is what it is....🙏🏽

Well... I just want to say: Yes, the LCO method is bomb! But it also depends on your hair type, your hair porosity... I always did the LCO method, and it kinda worked, but only for day one. The next day, my hair looked already so dry as if I didn't apply anything. I was thinking if I could have high porosity hair... and for high porosity, the LOC method can work as well or for some even better. Right now I switched to the LOC method and I think, this works actually better for me. Maybe in winter time I have to change something in my routine again, who knows. I'm still learning what works for me and what doesn't. My advice is: Just try both methods in the beginning. Maybe one month the LCO method, then one month a LOC method to compare. And then continue what works better. There are so many factors. Maybe it also depends on the oil you use. Get some information (there are good KZbin videos, too) about different oils and what they do. Maybe you need a heavier oil oder a lighter one. Maybe you need a sealing oil but you use a penetrating one. Just look it up and if your current routine doesn't work that well, than try to change one thing in your routine to see the difference. You will learn and build your own, personal hair regimen... and you will know your own hair and what it needs 🥰

For me.. I had to know my hair. My hair does not like extra protein... at all. It will cause split ends, brittle/dry strands, and break off. Finding products that adds lots of moisture is key. Vo5, coconut oil, a TEK brush, and my hair steamer is the only thing I use. I made sure my hair was 100% dry before detangling. One big braid prevents the hair from tangling. Almost at the crack now. You're right, keeping it simple was the way for me too.

I love your hair tips. I've had hair problems my whole life until I stumbled on your aloe vera pre poo video 6 months ago. Now I use either aloe vera or olive oil as pre poo and wash once every week and a half. I brush my hair gently but thoroughly every night and bun it. My hair is so healthy and shiny and growing! I've been doing this 6months now. I don't have curly hair but it is wavy, thin, fine and course. I have always had hair problems especially frizzy, dry dull hair that wouldn't grow. Not anymore! I look forward to trying your products. I tried coconut oil and it just makes my hair look greasy and leaves it dry. But the olive oil and argan seems to hydrate and leaves it shiny.

I have really curly hair. I usto straighten it everyday on 450°, buy whatever shampoo and washout conditioner I saw first, pulled it, ripped through it, let it get tangled, used zero oils/hair masks/treatments. On top of all that I had a horrible diet, never exercised, never cut it or trimmed, and washed it almost every day. I did that for 10 years! My hair took literal months to grow a single inch! After I started doing literally everything right and going through hours of research, diet/exercise changes, massive trial and error, serious learning curves, along with several big chops (I think I've done 4 big chops by now just to ensure all of my decade of damage is out) my hair grows crazy fast, an inch -- an inch and a half every month. If you treat your hair like a god/goddess, it'll work for you. I've been wearing my hair in it's natural curly state for a good 2 years now.

Genes def play a role for some. I am extremely low maintenance and had silky waist length hair. Never went for all the lotions and potions people rave about. Rarely ever used heating tools at home. Ran my hands through it for 2 seconds, if I didn't feel like using a comb, and I was out the door!

I’m soooooo happy for you AMBER, that you are about to launch your own products🎉☺️👏🏽 I’m sure they will be great! You’re just like me, I like to keep it simple. I have tried to to rice water, ayurvedic, and other homemade treatments that require so much, and it just doesn’t work for me as part of my régimen. I find that it’s easier for me to stick to more simple version of my natural hair weekly wash regimen, & I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT WILL HELP ME EVEN THOUGH IM NOT DOING ALL THAT EXTRA HELPFUL GROWTH AIDE TREATMENTS THAT OTHER NATURALS DO. So I’m right with you girl, and look you have such kind and healthy hair. So no natural can tell me that because I have a more simple regimen, that my hair won’t grow longer. I’m a proud lazy natural✊🏽 Also what I do after my wash is just apply a good oil and then some gel to put my hair in some braids and leave it like that until the next day and probably leave my hair loose or in a bun. And in the week I might detangle my hair and moisturize depending of my hair becomes dry. To be honest, I don’t get the LCO or LOC method, because for me I consider leave in conditioner as a cream or even as a liquid because the hair becomes damp with either. So I just do what best work for my hair, if my hair is type damp, I know to apply oil and a gel to help the oil penetrate a little better while creating the style I want for the next day. What would gel be considered as the L or the C. I think C right? I only apply water to my gear in the week when I notice my hair is very dry along with some oil.
